Nice. That looks to be at least 60% off. They show in stock at all the local stores near me. I think I'll go tomorrow and check it out. I've been using the cheap "helping hands" type thing with the alligator clips for electronics. But it keeps tipping over and the alligator clips tend to scratch the circuit boards.

I think the PanaVise brand is still Made in the USA. If so, I'm in for one for twenty bucks.

Thanks for the great deal!

I love my PanaVise. You can get any of their different heads for work holding and they'll fit into the same base. I have the Jr. head and circuit board head as well as the standard. The regular head also has replaceable jaws.

There is also a cast iron base available that makes it very stable without being bolted down for most light use.

This is a great deal! I've had one for ages and I've never really seen them go on sale.

Thanks to the OP. Picked up two today, one for the garage and one for the basement.

Picked one up today. They had two, so one left now.

They had a bunch of other stuff on clearance. The manager said they were changing stock out and a bunch of stuff on 50% or greater clearance. Definitely worth looking around your local Radio Shack this week to see what they have.

They also had a real nice professional helping hand with led light, magnifying glass, iron holder, sponge, and brass tip cleaner. It was normally $69 on clearance for $29, but I passed since I already have a helping hand. But was really nice if someone wants one of those. Here is the link for that.

I love my Panavise that I picked up in the 80's. I paid about the same price or more back then, so $19.95 is a real deal today. I will have to stop by a RS and see if I can snag another one.

I picked up one here in Cary, NC. Prices on shelves were not marked down but it rang up correctly as $19.97 at the register. They still had two left.

answering my own questions re: size:
The PanaVise 301 standard vise ships with PanaVise's standard 303 vise head assembly, which contains a number of convenient features. The first of these revolves around its ability to securely and safely hold items. The smooth, removable nylon jaws of the vise head assembly are 2-1/2" (63.5 mm) by 1/2" tall (12.6 mm). They secure the toughest of small jobs, without scratching and offer excellent electrical insulation and gentle holding power. The overall vise opening width between jaws is 2-1/4" (57.1 mm). Also, since exposure to heat sources is common in vise applications such as gluing, circuit board wiring, jewelry making and use around handheld power tools, the vise head assembly of the PanaVise 301 standard vise is reasonably resistant to heat, with a continuous heat tolerance to 200 degrees F (93 degrees C) and intermittent heat up to 300 degrees F (149 degrees C).
Includes PanaVise's Most Popular Base

The PanaVise 301 standard vise offers great flexibility of mount possibilities. The included model 300 PanaVise standard base can be used as a stand-alone support when working with light items, or can be used to secure the vise permanently to a flat surface via its three countersunk holes (screws not included). The base features a single control knob to secure the full range of movement provided by its split-ball functionality, is compact with a height of 3-3/4" (95.2 mm) and weight of 1.4 lbs. (0.6 kg) and accepts all 300 series heads with a 5/8" (15.9 mm) shaft.
Key Features

The easy-to-use "split-ball" adjustment element with single knob controls head movement through 3-planes: 90 degree tilt, 360 degree turn and 360 degree rotation
Jaws are 2-1/2" (63.5 mm) wide, 1/2" (12.6 mm) tall and open to 2-1/4" (57.1 mm)
Removable nylon jaws offer insulation from electricity and heat, and provide as gentle holding power
Interchangeable jaws available
Base accepts all 300 series heads with 5/8" (15.9 mm) diameter post
Base features 4.3125" (109.5 mm) bolt circle countersunk for three 1/4" (6.3 mm) flathead screws (not included)
The vise features compatibility with all PanaVise base mounts and many other accessories

Thanks OP.
Picked up one at my local store. Neat little vise will be handy for small things. Not really a duty vise, but then again not designed for that.

On a side note, I had not been into a Radio Shack in years. What happened to that place? I remember when you used to be able to by parts and kits; seems like cell phones and toys now. :(

Its been like that for about a decade now. I worked there in the late 90s and it was still the RS everyone used to love. Apparently not too long after I left for bigger and (well, not so much better) things, management decided to try to jump on the Best Buy/Circuit City bandwagon and started phasing out a large majority of the small parts.

It really ***** what they did to the store when you live near a city like Memphis that doesn't have any real options for buying electronic components conveniently. I'm stuck having to order most stuff online now.

I don't know if they are sold out already, but I can't figure out how to add it to my cart on their website..

Website showed I stock so my wife went to get one with a print out but she said the employees had no clue what they were... Typical radio shack service in my experience...

Picked one up, these are great for locksmith work and other delicate tasks. Again, thanks OP.

If anyone wants one that can't get one, my local store has two left, I would be willing to ship at my actual cost.

I also grabbed one today. All my local stores had stock, and there were still two more in the one I actually visited.

Now, what I'm after is a great deal on the wide jaw head for things like circuit boards. Possibly a magnetic base too.

Thanks for the original post, I'd not been into the local Radio Shack in the twelve months I've been living 1/4 mile from it. I can't say I'll be going back either though, as apart from this sort of clearance item, there's not much else that interested me and was price competitive.

Yes, same here. I really want to buy that cast iron 8 pound weighted base. But can't bring myself to paying almost twice what the $19 vise cost.

I'm trying to hold myself back from all the other features of the Panavise. You could wind up spending a couple hundred bucks on this little guy with all the cool options for it!

Thanks OP.

I went about 15 minutes from closing last night and grabbed about $170 onto my credit card of stuff that was on clearance. Some pretty decent deals on clearanced toys for my nephews. The salespeople told me that the clearance started about 2 weeks ago and they had 2 tables of items. I cleared off nearly half of the remaning table along with one of the vises, leaving another vise for the next person.

:)

Thanks OP! Picked one up today at the store and it was still marked $49.99 on the shelf. It came up correct in the register and it surprised the cashier.

FYI, they probably won't honor this price at a Franchise Store. Didn't at mine.

I picked up one this evening, one left at the Amherst store on Main and Tranist.
