Once Snap-on production is completely moved to China/Tiawan do you think they will keep the Bluepoint brand...If not, do you think SO will honor the BP warranty...?

SO is moving to China?!?! I hope not, but whatever happens I think the Bluepoint brand is safe. It's their value brand.

Why wouldn't they? They will still need two price points. You don't think they would lower the price on the Snap-on stuff do you?

Guys I talked to a Snap On corporate guy the other day and he told me to keep it on the down low but Snap On is actually going to move production to the moon starting in 2015 so stock up on your USA made stuff now.

I have a bad feeling in a few years (< 8-10) Taiwan will be come the COO of choice for tool manufacture.

Get rid of bluepoint? I kinda doubt it. It is so much a part of the company dating back to the early 1900's. Then again craftsman dropped the companion line, IIRC. So.... :dunno:

Maybe in the future?
Snap on --> Canada and Taiwan
Bluepoint --> China

You guys have it all wrong. Harbor Freight has been quietly buying Snap On stock, and now is a majoritry stock holder. The timing couldn't be better with the new Snap On forging plants being opened up in India and the Congo.

All these rumors finally make sense. There is a rumor China will buy Snap On, then there is the rumor that Snap On will move production to the moon. Is it a coincidence that China is planning to send human to the moon? The Chinese move production to the moon to avoid environmental regulation and pay those Moonsians rock cheap. They could really claim their moon wrench are actually made on the moon with ultra strong moon rock. I could see price to start skyrocketing though.

Snap On will never move their HQ out of the U.S. They know better. That being said, depending on the market and economy, they may soon be left with some very tough production/pricing decisions. When you consider what blue collar people make, I'm not sure how much higher they can push their prices without freezing the prices or making major business decisions.

I realllllly want a set of moon wrenches. I'd pretty much be the coolest kid on the block at the point. I refuse to pay for them with anything other than bit coins though! ;)

Will they keep Snap On is the question. Maybe they will just be focusing on Blue Point

Snap-On's operating margin is 18.6 compared to the 9.4 industry average. Trust me, they are doing fine for the moment. Stock price is 4x higher than 10 years ago. Again, trust me, they are doing fine for now. I wouldn't be surprised if they start making some serious deals as far as trying to gain some new customers. Big sales or promotions of some kind in the next 12 to 24 months.

Craftsman always kept a lower line though, they just changed the name over the years.

Companion, Sears tools, now Craftsman Evolv.

Us old timers like to go back and forth about the COO stuff. The kids coming in at the County garages were issued Blue Point in school. So they already think tiawan is where the "good" tools come from....They dont have the same hang ups when it comes to COO as us old farts do..Snap-On knows this, they also know that us old timers dont buy tools much any more..we already own 3 of every tool we will ever need..We are just a pain in the **** to them now with our warranty exchanges..They are gearing up to sell to the next generation of mechanics...who dont give a rats a55 about COO..............

The dealer that goes around the Shelby/Hart,Mi area was spreading rumors that Snap On was dropping the warranty on the Blue Point line,he was telling a lie.I talked the dealer down the road in my area about it,he said that is not true. There are Snap On dealers giving the Blue Point tools a year warranty instead of the lifetime warranty.

All of my Blue Point tools are made in the USA. I stopped buying Blue Point tools many years ago.
