Golfers: Come on in with some storage ideas

Please do not laugh. Here is a pick of where/how I stored my extra clubs. Now, the only clubs that I actually switch (depending on course) are 3 irons and 3 hybrids. The rest either is used by my kids or borrowed by my neighbors. Yes, I could sell them...but I want to keep them. With that in mind, anyone ever had a golf storage problem like mine? If so, how did you solve it.

I am thinking of drilling holes in a plywood (for the clubs to slip into), that will serve as the top, with 2x4s as legs, with a sheet of plywood as the bottom and lockable wheels on each corner.

Thanks ahead for any ideas and response.

I wish that was all the clubs I had. Unfortunately I don't have any great ideas for storage. My extra clubs are leaning against an entire wall of my garage.

Think about the pool cue holders that go on the wall and make something similar that will hold the clubs
Make it like garage art while your at it

Great idea and I would love to, but not enough room on the walls.

Make yourself a couple of U shape brackets and screw them to the ceiling. You only need about two inches of clearance to get the clubs in and all the heads all line up so you can see what you got.

You can send me a 55 or 56 sand wedge. I left mine on a course this last weekend. Hasnt turned up yet. It would lessen your storage needs.

I started with hooks from the Depot which became cost prohibitive. My last house I used plywood in a strip on side with U's cut out of it every 2-3 inches. I did plasti-dip the U. I mounted it on a basement wall, and placed another strip of plywood about 25-30 inches down. The club head when between the studs. Having one high and one low has made storage much easier. I had about 6-8 sets in a small area in the basement.

One other suggestion: get a 30 gal fiber drum and fill it with the plastic tubes used to keep clubs from rubbing against each other in the bag. Lay the drum on its side to install the tubes, they fit better that way. Install enough tubes so they are really snug in the barrel so they will not wiggle around.

I may have shown this before on a thread about fishing gear storage but it would work for clubs as well and makes use of a space otherwise ignored. Berkley rod holders mounted to overhead door and I use bungee cords to keep them in place when opened.

I plan to build a cabinet that will hold 4 sets of clubs/bags in my garage on the wall. Each with it's own "bin" or compartment.

I too have some extra clubs that sit in my basement in an old golf bag. I think I might make an extra "bin" for the extra clubs and use some sort of PVC for the handles to sit in with a clip a couple feet high for the club to clip into. Maybe alternate handle up and down so I can fit more into it. Not sure on that.

I also plan to have a section of the cabinet for golf shoes/boots/weed eating shoes etc,.

This will probably be a winter project.

Clubs on the garage door would be heavy at a point.

Perhaps a magnetic solution of some sort could work. Of course the clubs would end up being magnetized in the end, but that's not really a problem. I have some magnetic knife holders from IKEA that I use to hang all sorts of tools. Surprisingly strong and cheap to purchase. Two rows affixed out of the way someplace - top row to hold near the club head, bottom row to hold further down the club shaft. These could be affixed to a slide out plywood sheet under stairs, to the ceiling, extra wall space etc.

Here's what I did. Hold five sets of clubs and five pair of golf shoes. (and I'm the only golfer in the house).

Two large (600mm?) wood discs, 10mm thick or better.
A tall ring (use 20-50mm tall flexible molding,) 20mm thick, glued / screwed atop disc 1.
50mm holes located 80mm inboard, around ring 1. Slotted to the o.d.
Matching holes in disc 2, no slots.

A center connecting support; possibly with storage attachments for sleeves of balls, or hollow centred for bulk ball storage?

Hung from the ceiling with a bearing so it can rotate.

I used shelf rails like this that I had from a previous project.

Used 3" screws to space them away from the ceiling enough to clear the width of the grip.

Some really cool solutions. We keep our regular bags in a cheap rack we got at Bed Bath & Beyond that holds two bags, shoes, balls, etc. On each side of the rack we keep our hard sided travel bags and we keep all of the extra clubs hidden away in the travel bags.

Nice idea right here. Tucked out the way, and LOTS of storage!

I'm not a golfer though. Could never get comfortable swinging, or even remotely think the ball is going in the direction I am aiming. I can kill the ball, just no control whatsoever.

Anyhow, that being said, I love playing billiards. The garage isn't such a good spot for cue sticks, unless you have something climate controlled. Not sure if the same rule applies to golf clubs (thinking woods vs irons here).

Ha I was going to say trash can before I opened this thread. But I was thwarted by the first picture. I was going to suggest a trash can as in get rid of them... I'm not a golf fan :p
