On the HF website they show 2 numbers for the red carts, a 95272 or 96397. Is there any diffrence?
I think Model 69397 is the older model with 4 swivel casters, 2 locking & 2 non locking swivel casters. & 95272 is the latest model with 2 locking swivel casters, & 2 non swivel casters. I got model 95272 & mine has 2 locking swivel casters, & 2 non swivel casters.

on my 4 drawer, I just bought a cheap intermediate box from sears and stuck it on the bottom. and with the tiny bit of space left over between them I have enough room for
this and this for misc nuts, bolts...etc
Which box did you use from sears?

i think its the difference between the glossy red finish, and the flatter red, or it could be the black badge or the silver one. not 100 percent on it thow. my usual HF only has one or the other in stock, and i can never remember the numbers.

I just thought of something, what about a drop in tray for the deep drawer? A 12" baking pan should work with a little of work. I'll check out the pans at the store this weekend.

if i hadn't already configured mine, that would be an awesome idea. maybe a shallower one would work...:dunno:

newest mod is hardly noticiable, but i added clips to hold my ratchets in place while the cart is rolling around my shop. maybe a bit overzealous, but i liked the idea.

you can barely see them in the socket drawer in the middle holding the new slew of gearwrench 120xp's down

I need to do the same. Where did you get the clips?

ace hardware. i belive they call em 'gripper clips'. its what alot of people use to hold up brooms and the like against a wall. i tweaked them a bit to hold my smaller diameter ratchets, and the bottom of that drawer is lined with 1/2" plywood, so i just used some hex head sheet metal screws to hold them down.

this isnt where i got them, but the link will help with measurements and such. i actually took a picture of it with my phone and took it with me to ace.

http://www.reidsupply.com/sku/GGT-1/

the rest of that board is just HF socket rails screwed down to the plywood. i did the same in my bottom drawer for my 1/2 and impact stuff.

Well, I made a drop in shelf for the deep top drawer. I got a sheet metal brake from HF, I had a piece of 16 gauge laying around. This is the 1st time I ever used a brake, I think it turned out pretty good. Now I got to paint it & make it look purdy:pimpflash.

Anybody know if there is a rattle-can paint that's a (near) perfect match for the glossy read on the 5-drawer carts?

Krylon "Banner Red" isn't perfect, but it was close enough to the 26" box that it didn't matter to me.

Anyone repaint their 5 drawer? I'm not a fan of the red. Curious to see it in another color. Gotta say, blue or green would be cool!

don't know about blue and green, but if I ever got one I'd paint it metallic black with blue metallic flakes.

Is it possible to put the 7 drawer side cabinet on a four drawer? Obviously color will not match unless one or the other is painted... But will the 4 drawer handle the added weight? I've looked throu this thread and saw a few 5 drawers with this but no 4 drawer.
TIA

im one of the ones that did the 5 + 7 drawer layout, and if you do it like i did and add casters to the bottom of the 7 drawer i dont see why not.

there is also another guy who built a frame for them to sit on so he still only had 4 wheels on the ground.

either way, i dont see why you couldnt do a 4 + 7 drawer mod. id certainly be interested in seeing it when you were done. especially if you paint either the cart red, the cabinet black, or go big and paint them both something else entirely.:dunno:

Probably paint the 7drawer black as the 4 drawer cart already matches my black craftsman workstation.

So I hit up the sidewalk sale and got a new 5 drawer for $119. They had the price marked wrong but gave it to me anyway! Now I have a new welding cart:shocking:

Damn I wish they sold a version like that with a shelf instead of drawers. The quality of their 2 and 3 shelf carts ****.
