Then the $5 SK tool box! I really like it, just need to get the black paint off. I'm hoping it was a cheap paint can job and i can get it off.

But if you had looked closely in the pictures you would have seen this!!
So the question is how do I get that black paint off without damaging the original if it is still in good shape?

Who cares if it's dirty? IT WORKS. That is the coolest BP hammer I have ever seen. I've no idea who the guy is but that's an awesome hammer. Nice finds on all of that post! YOU ****!
Geore Z. Lechmeir I believe
I guess good quality hammers truly are timeless.Yes sir. Saw it off the bat.![]()
Need my glasses...

I found one cool tool today at the local thrift store. I'm not really a pipe wrench collector, but this one had a coolness I couldn't pass up. A 1908 patent date, an interesting engineering feature where the outer jaw pivots on a machined part and the inner jaw pivots on a riveted pin for a better grip, I suppose. Anyway, I had never seen one of these and I thought it was pretty darn cool. Of course the price tag that said $1 had some influence on me too.
I forgot to mention, the guy I bought that cabinet from GAVE me this new can of FLUID FILM. Anyone ever try it? He sells it at his hose/fitting business and compd me a can to try hooking me into buying more

Now, back to the sales. Feeling like the broke tooth loser I am, I left out for a few pawn stops on the way to a sale that was totally opposite end of the earth from this mornings sales.
First stop has a super nice 50s cantilever Craftsman box but it's full of damaged torch handles and misc used tips and it's marked $49.95Things with prices marked don't get discounted at this place. Only the unmarked single wrenches and things I can pick up for cheap. I asked if he could dump the busted torch **** in another box and sell me the Craftsman but no luck. I did walk away with this handful for $10, no tax this time.
Williams 1/2x10" Extension and 12" adjustable. Proto brake pliers, Greenlee unibit and a small Craftsman extension.

Three more pawn shops on the way to the other sale, only thing I got was dirty fingers...Finally get to the other sale, probably should have went there first this am. I grabbed the Swingline's on the way down the driveway before being directed to the "workshop" out back where I grabbed the Wiss shears and box of chalk. There was an old school Craftsman vise bolted down, the owner lady said it would be sold with the house, since she bought the house with it there![]()

I'm walking out and I see this cool looking lil guy with a $7 price tag. Not too bad I think. I throw it under my arm and away I go!! Halfway home I'm all on ebay trying to identify it, last one sold on the 5th for about $100!! I'm all excited, can't wait to show you guys my new score!!! Wait for it....

No, the second pic....I get home and turn the handle twice and the damn jaw falls over...Shaft broken, shoot me in the face!

For ID'ing that box in a timely manner, I would like "payment" in the following method: More pictures (drawer slides or not?) inside drawers. Just go crazy what that camers AND basic dimensions of the box (LxWxD).
Seriously, if you don't mind I would appreciate it. Helps to build the database for future reference.
Yes sir. Saw it off the bat.
I've had good luck with full strength simple green, soaking a paper towel and then letting it sit on the area for a few minutes. Then scrub with a soft brush, wash with water and dry. Typically simple green will soften the cheaper paints commonly used to repaint boxes yet will not touch the factory paint. Obviously use caution and test in a inconspicuous non critical area.
$5 YOU ****. That looks to be in great shape.![]()

First, try simple green on one of the sides. But you gotta let it soak in... submersing it or wet paper towels.... I did the paper towel method with ok success.
on the multiple recommendations of this. I've done it a few times and actually use a long soak in SG to recover good quality paint brushes that have been neglected. One was rock solid with paint, and I use it regularly now...

Got any more pics of the box? Price paid? We need details man, details.
it has 2 solid copper blocks on the end ~2"x4"x3/4" thick. Will be good for weld backing.

Great stuff guys (as usual![]()

Hemifalcon, wow what a get.Got any more pics of the box? Price paid? We need details man, details.
Nice day outside here. Hit a few sales on the way home this afternoon, lots of baby clothes. Total spend $5 for first pic.
-USA rivet gun
-Cman 9/16" V combo
-Misc USA metric hex keys, goofy sizes that I needed (ex. Long 8mm)
-Small, super handy size "W. German" diagonal cutters
-Crow bar
-Folding saw w/ never used blade
-Neat, heavy glass mug. "Hand made in Greece" really, how many items do you find made in Greece? For 50¢ I had to have it.
2nd-4th pics, I saw a bunch of stuff sitting buy the curb. Small metal box, stopped to grab it. Was so rusted out that the bottom fell out when I went to pick it up.Dug through the contents right there. Only two things worth saving were a Craftsman "Professional Electricians Knife" USA made and a ratchet head? Anyone recognize or need the ratchet head? I like knives, I like USA, I like craftsman, it cleaned up well. Yep, for $0 I'm happy.

That would have been the first thing I grabbed
Damn, there is a knife just like that here on CL, I have been trying to meet with the guy for a month now but he lives in the next town over and I hate going there...
Crazy coincidence. Obviously the PO didn't think it was worth it, so in the trash it went.
Note it was pretty rust, pic is after clean up. It is still tight and works smooth. I need to work the edge over as it looks like someone tried to sharpen it on their driveway. hemifalcon didn't seem as "into" the box saying he just bought it to carry the stuff That would have been the first thing I grabbed
I know, it was almost like. "Well I have to get all this home somehow.
Either a cardboard box or this Craftsman tool box. I guess I will take the tool box.
I bet they even felt sorry for him and gave him a deal on the box.
^^^^ I have the Klein version of this knife!
O excuse me a "Professional" electricians knife? I'm not a professional electrician, am I qualified to use it?
