Hi HOTFR8,

I will get the wife to look at them when she gets back into Australia. The way we have the lights operating at the moment all three greens go then then the amber and so on, but it would be great to have them the other way that 1/2 cup has said so i will be looking into it more.
I was looking into doing a couple of dragracing trees so hopefully they will work them as well.

1/2 Cup was here today. Looks like what he has made for me will do the job.
He has yet to finish making it for me and we talked about how to finish it.
Will be a box with all the gear inside plus a lead and three power points on the outside.

By the sounds of things 1/2 cup is more than a stand up guy for going out of his way on this project for you, I only wish more people in this world where more like that mate, i only wish you guys didn't live so far away for me to stop in from time to time. I looked on your build page and it looks like a quality little setup.

My bargain of the week was another cash register, missing the front drawer and the glass up top but i can get a drawer from the states fairly cheap. Only paid $100 for it so i will leave this one in the garage so the other ones can stay up in a cleaner environment.

Hi Gj folk, So the wife wants to get her buick on the road for a car event in june next year so we started working on it over the weekend. We pulled the interior out to find alot more rust than what we first thought, one of the previous owners had purchased rust repair sections for the sills (rocker panels) and lower quarter panel and then stuck them on with silicone so it looked good in the pics when we purchased it.
I will update pics as we go, the wife also wants to leave the patini as is so we are just repairing the rust and will leave it in bear metal to age again and catch up to the rest of the car.

Hi 1/2 cup, he said he was negotiable at $100 and to make him an offer but i decided not to bargain with him and pay it all, i even told when they are restored they are worth $2000 and up but he didn't seem fazed.:willy_nil:willy_nil

All over the floor it had these tins used to cover up the rust and then tarred over.

And we also found a wrapper of some sort, does anyone know if the company is still around?

This one of the latest brain freezes i have had lately i purchased the vanguard a couple of weeks ago as i thought it would look good hotrodded but the wife thinks i will be dead before i get to finish it as it is along way down the list of other projects.
But like i said to her, when i am dead and she has to sort all the cars and stuff out it will keep her occupied for a couple of years and bring in some extra cash as well.

I believe the company is still around. We had a plant here in Kansas that shut down a couple of years ago.

I apologize for thinking you were more my age :dunno:

And had to chuckle over your comment you may be dead before you get to your latest barn freeze
I can relate far too well to that idea and still my projects mount up.

Do you have a full time job and play in the garage in your spare time or are you working out of the garage??

I spoke to a gentleman from sydney tonite that wants to do a story on me and my bodyshop career and put it in a magazine down there. He is bringing a group of Assie's thru my garage in November prior to the Sema show and we are planning on burgers and shakes in the diner I'll keep you posted.

Enjoy
Don

Well i decided i needed another vehicle this week:willy_nil. I have been trying to purchase this off a mate for a few years but he didn't want to sell until the other week he told me he was looking at selling it on. So once i got the ok off the wife i went down on the weekend and picked her up. I call it the (2015 f100) with all the luxuries it has it must be ahead of time:lol_hitti.

It has the original running gear in it which was a bit temperamental last night driving it home, It took us 5 hours to go 15 miles with all the problems we had but thats the fun in it.

I've always been a truck guy. That looks like a great project.
First look at it though it seems to be larger than an F100, overlooking the lugs.

:confused:Lee, quick question - do you have enough room to house yet another project?

Hi Steve, this one will be up in the carport as it will be used on a daily basis and will only go into the shed for a gearbox changeover. But as for your question about the shed, there is not much more room left so i think i might have to knock up something soon for more storage. lee

Hi,
I think the truck would be equivalent to a f250 as it is 2.7 ton tare and it was a dual wheel rear. I have always had a soft spot for pickups and trucks as well mate. lee

Hi Don,
Just answering your questions, I probably work out of my shed half the year and the other half i do part time chippy work or sometimes concreting and also go to a couple of other shops doing some sheetmetal work or panel and paint at another shop when they get snowed under. I try not to take on to many jobs at home as i am limited in space with all of my junk.
You will have to keep us updated on the magazine shoot and also the tv filming about your garage. Next time i head over their i will have to catch up, i wish i would of known about your garage last time i went over mate.

take it easy Don.

Love the truck. It'll be a great shop truck and general parts go getter once it's set up.

I've often been tempted to get an old f100 as a knock around vehicle. I had one years ago and liked that I didn't have to care too much about what it looked like.

Cheers

Lee, A 5 speed box will be just what that Jailbar truck needs. You will be surprised how the extra gears make them perform. on that purchase.

Edit: Electric water pump (Davies Craig type) and alternator may be other additions that help.

Hi HOTFR8, looks like it's going to be a six speed conversion instead as the cost isn't that much more and it will hopefully give me a bit extra drop in revs up top so i will see how we go.
