I am currently in the market for a battery powered grinder. I tried an older Blue Point briefly and found it woefully lacking. We have lots of DeWalt battery tools but their grinders seem too light. I've heard Metabo produces one but I'm fairly sure it's made of unobtainium. Now I see Milwaukee is making a grinder for their 18 volt line and I'm intrigued. Any one here have experience with a Milwaukee cordless grinder?

Not in a million years would I ever talk someone out of a tool (I own a cordless dewalt grinder); and trust me f you are out in some car parts yard with cut-off wheel it makes your day go fast. On the other hand those suckers will drain your batteries asap , that is why all my other grinders are corded.

I take it you are needing it where there is no power to plug in, Milwaukee makes some very nice tools that you will enjoy using; so I would bet that any grinder that they would make will be top notch.

I want one,, I am on a 28v system though. Sawing and grinding are super hogs, the sawzall is great in all but heavy demolition, same for circ saw. Battery is not ideal for framing a whole house.

I am thinking of buying these energy hogs like the saw and grinder, but I am considering the M28. Although many on the forum believe that the 28 volt line will be discontinued, I am not convinced, therefore I will wait a little longer and see what direction the company takes.

I was thinking 28 would take a nose dive but just bought 6 new batteries. I was hoping for a few used pieces to show up but everyone is holding pretty tight. The stuff has been exceptional, can count on one hand the times I used a corded drill in last 10 years. I could use another light or 2, they are super handy and one just doesn't need to "conserve" battery with them.

The M18 is exceptional as well though.
My M18 Fuel drill has more power than my 6.8A corded drill. It is nothing to sneeze at.

If the new grinder is brushless, then it should help out noticeably with run-time, especially if you're using the 4.0ah battery. I have a cordless craftsman grinder. It works well for small cuts here and there, but no way would I get rid of it. It comes in handy more times than not.

The new one is indeed brushless, and from what I've heard head and shoulders above old ones. I know my LXT grinder could wreck a battery like nobody's business. It was great for weld prep or such 5-minute stuff, but anything more than that it was out of its element.

I doubt I'd upgrade if I already had one, but I dumped my LXT stuff, and luckily heard about the new Fuel grinder just before I was planning to buy a regular M18 grinder.

I can sharpen three extremely dull mower blades on one m28 batt. The 28 volt last much longer than the 18 volt dewalt.

The new fuel grinder with the 4AH will beat both. I'm sure it will also take out my 36 volt dewalt.

Waiting for the release date. I want a tool only.

I'm sorry, but the LXT grinder is the biggest POS ever built. They brag about it's 10,000RPM speed and it's a joke. As soon as you touch the work piece, it slows down to like 400RPM. My old 18v dewalt would just destroy it and it runs at 6500RPM. It doesn't slow down much when you beat on it.

I have an M18 cordless grinder. I like it and not having to haul a cord out for quick jobs is great. I haven't used it for anything heavy or any big jobs yet.
