First time at Northern Tool & Equipment

I've never been to Northern Tool and Equipment in Tampa, on Hillsboro Ave. So, I stopped in and looked around at their stuff and was somewhat impressed. Made me think of a Tractor Supply combined with Harbor Freight. There is a good deal of cheap Chinese dollar bin kinda things around, but they also sell Hobart welders/plasma cutters, Ingersoll-Rand compressors and air tools, as well as some Milwaukee, Dewalt, Hitachi corded/cordless stuff. Husqvarna trimmers, blowers, chainsaws. They also carry some other name brand tools. They have a large selection of engine powered equipment, tires, lawn/garden tools.

All-in-all the store has a good selection, and a nice range of price points to meet what you are looking for. Worth a visit, IMO.

I've been looking for a large format breaker bar in 3/4" or 1" drive. I found them each there, 40" long but they wanted $79.99. Too steep I thought for something I want but don't need. Looked for online coupons but didn't find any better than their online price of $67.99.

But what I did find was a discount shelf....With a 3/4" drive 20" T-bar for $5! BINGO! Thats just my price!

I also stopped by a pawn shop near me and found a set of bolt extractors:

Northern Tool had them on the shelf for $31.99. Pawn shop wanted $10, I offered $8.

Today was a good day. =)

I was not impressed with the store at all. It feels like an illegitimate child of fleet farm and HF. Only thing I see the store good for is free shipping to the store on orders. I don't know how people without fleet farms make it in this world.

We have Rural King, and Tractor Supply...Are those the same as a Fleet-Farms...?

Fleet farm and its non related clone farm and fleet are like a tractor supply but on average 6 times larger depending on location. They are loving refered to as the "man's mall" as you can buy pretty much anything there. Kinda like Menard's if they had a sporting goods, clothing and a good auto section.

Would be nice if we had some Fleet Farm and Farm and Fleet here in FL, theres a log of Ag in the state that might put those stores to good use, as well a a healthy hunting/fishing population.

I'm a ***** for Northern Tool closeouts. I shop them online and have them shipped to my door. The closest NT is about 100 miles away - but with traffic it might as well be 1,000.

The North Star pressure washers are pretty good. I have had one for 5+ years. Change the oil on motor and pump is the only thing I have done to it.
