Finally broke ground on our new addition to the garage and a second story above it.

Garage will be 55x26 minus the stairs. I’m having a builder do the concrete work, framing and sheathing. I will be finishing the rest. Really looking forward to the additional room in the garage.

The wall in the photos with the OSB on it is temporary.

Seems like a great space you are creating.

Question, what type soil is that? Would you need some reinforcing steel int the foundations and floor?

It was really wet soil, one trip across it with the 4x4 back hoe and it was almost stuck. I had them remove 24 to 20 inches of soil and compact gravel in its place up to where the bottom of the slab will be. Once it was all hard as a rock they dug the trench for the foundation. The footing and I think the stem wall will have steel in it by code.
