I think with all the cool Craftsman old label things I have been running into lately, I may be selling off some crown items soon...The DP matches my lathe and King Seely sander I picked up a while back. I also have a few old label boxes and contacts with a King Seely 6" Deluxe jointer and a 30's 12x36 wood lathe waiting for me to call...I'm torn between two loves, feeling like a fool

Went back on half off day and this was still there, so I felt I had to bring it home with me for $28.

Full of =V=, the chrome on everything is like new.

Pliers are craftsman at the top, Lectrolite, Klein, Utica.

SAE are =V=, the metric set is a mix. Was missing 15(which I had a spare, but the lines are in the wrong location).

Rest of the box, nothing special. The other socket set is a Tomahawk hex drive. I actually wanted a brake spoon, so that worked out. The two sockets on the far left are a pair of Snap-On sockets I found at another sale for .50.

The Dunlaps have red plastic and the Craftsman clear plastic like yours. I am happy with the plastic drawers, they are in good shape.

Went to one sale today that was way out of my regular area but due to the circumstances of the night before, i was passing through early enough to shop a little.

Not a ton of tools in the garage but i grabbed a small wooden box that contained a large selection of Plomb WF tools in excellent condition. The neatest one was the A. Plomb Calif. Tool. Its an open end wrench, 7/16 and the opposite side is a flare nut wrench. It seems like a brake tool for an early Ford but it could be aircraft. I don't really know.

The rest of the tools were Duro Chrome, WIlliams or Vlchek. Some Snap on but the breaker bar is frozen solid so its gonna need some work. All are dated from 1939 to 1941.

The Vlchek hammer is mint as is the mini Craftsman BP hammer. 3 Proto yellow handled screwdrivers.

1 Cornwell extension, Stanley plane, german needlenose pliers, sweet little Craftsman Crown top pry bar and some other assorted goodies. Not a bad pile for 30.00

I have two unopened NOS rebuild kits no. 44783 that say they are for use in C'man quick release ratchets 43175 and 43185. These are real sealed sears kits.

Unfortunately the kits are both 1/4" drive meaning they really only fit the 43185 if I remember what I read correctly on here.
Check again to see if your ratchet is 3/8" drive.

I;ve got quite a few C'man old ratchet rebuild kits yet own no old C'man ratchets, so i just sit and wait here on GJ for those in need.

Thanks guys. It's not quite NOS, but as close as I can imagine ever finding.

Found once last stop on the way to the grocery store got me the following for $2. The ridgid has smooth jaws, I'm assuming for visible fittings. The small screwdriver is a snap-on, and the ratchet is a Challenger. The video game is because I collect the older systems.

Also Ryan before buying a rebuild kit run it by your local Sears, I had the same one, took it in and they gave me an identical freshly rebuilt one about 3 months ago. So apparently some still have old kits on hand yet That ratchet has a better feel than the teardrops I have although not as good as my RHFT's.

Hit an auction today and got a lot for a little $$$$!! The first lot was ALL the wrenches in the pics for $6. I couldn't believe it considering the place was packed, but once I gave a quick glance around I realized that most of the people seemed ore like "fine antiquer's" over tool collectors. They are a wide variety of US brands, but mostly Craftsman. The second lot was the -V- Craftsman kit, older Husky box and Snap-on impact along with the box of drill bits and other DP goodies. That was a $7 score !!.

The last lot cost $20 and that's only because I was in a bidding war with some older woman who liked the small storage box almost as much as I did (hey nine, it's raining small storage boxes in 'dis joint). I saw her go over to it several times peeking inside the drawers. She's been the ruin of one too many scores for me so I let my temper get the best of me. It came with two shelves full of brass and copper bits which will be heading to the scrap yard on Monday once I sort through everything tomorrow. The box of brushes was cool. There are some REALLY old brushes in good shape.

The clamp was also bought in the $20 lot and is heavy and very well built. That will be put to use on my welding table. All in all I was happy with what I scored for under $40.

I see that a lot at auctions but also at garage sales and fleas.

Too many folks watching American Pickers, Pawn shop wars, Storage unit wars, Antique Roadshow wars and all the other shows out there that convince everyone that every item they buy is worth 10 to 100 times its worth.

I have a monthy upscale flea where hipsters try and sell me "vintage" hammers with no markings or stampings (and are so rusty they cannot even be seen at all) for $14 each and it needs a handle, but 3 stalls down they have a USA made vice that is slightly rusty and selling it for $20.

Auction buyers are often about winning the bid. Just like gambling. They are too foolish to know the true value of what they are buying in many of the cases I see. Or buy lots in bluk and unload cheap what they don't know or see of a having a high value.

Vintage tools to most folks are display pieces as many do not know what they are for nor know how to use them. Think TGI Fridays decor.
I try to poll high schoolers and 20's ers as to do they own tools and do they use them, and the number keeps going down. Sell vintage or retro but useable iPhones to them ---hellz yes they'll buy them. Tools? What are they for?

I picked up a nice 50's carry tool box a while back that was painted pink and well used and had chipped up pink paint that was filed to the gills with 4 Arrow and Bostitch hot glue guns and 300 +glue sticks plus other items.
Seller said estate sale buy and I paid $10 for all at the flea.
Owner was a deceased scrapbooker and crafter.

The flippers at the posh flea mkts and antique malls are those folks that follow the auction trail and then wonder why nothing sells as quickly as they wish after they buy it.

Wow guys and gals, you never cease to amaze me with the stuff and deals you find. A "You ****" all around I'm liking the small storage boxes. I don't think yours was very popular on here Nine ha ha. I think I have the same one TMT just bought IIRC, they were made by Kennedy.

I found a few garage sales on the way home today. And a few signs that I swear lead to f'ing Narnia. I swear I circled a block and the sign arrows kept pointing in the direction of the circle. Mostly junk, typical baby clothes. Only bought one thing. A pair of snap on needle nose pliers for $1. My first snap on pliers. One sale had a bunch of snap on stuff, but way too expensive for me. (ex. 3/8 drive standard sockets were $3-$5 each, breaker bars were $50, ratchets $75). Was hoping for a cheap ratcheting screwdriver, but NSL on that. Very happy with the $1 pliers.

Those American Picker dudes drive me crazy!! I find myself watching not for the "planted" stuff they find, but because I find it hilarious how they have become "honest guys" compared to the real life snake oil salesmen they were in season one.

In season one they would see an item of value (especially that weasel Mike Wolf) and flash to the side bar where he would explain its popularity and current (hyper-inflated) market value. Then it flashes back to the negotiation part where he would ask "what would you take for something like this?" in that nasally annoying voice. The 90 year old guy would say "oh, I don't know....how about $40?" The as$hole Wolf already told us thirty seconds earlier that the item was highly sought after and worth ten to fifteen times that, but he still would try and chisel another ten or so off of the poor guy who probably is selling off his extensive collection to pay medical bills he can't afford.

The other night I watched a few episodes (seems like they play it 24 hours a day) which were newer and they will now "adjust" the price if they feel it is too low. They are such great/honest guys.

I need to remember that! I had the thought that the next time I have a Hot Prospect Sale to get to, I could post some signs that say "tools" and a bunch of arrows leading nowhere, and post a teaser ad in CL and the competition would be chasing their tails while I go for the gold!

I have a good buddy whose son is now a apprentice machinist and I'm trying to fill his Kennedy little by little.

Meanwhile I have a 21 y.o. nephew that destroys anything mechanical he touches and I know many many sons of friends and relatives in that age bracket that are far to interested in girls, video games, social media, sports and high tech toys and gadgets that there is NO interest in tool usage.

Can't sell tools to someone who has no interest nor a need to buy them.

Well, until they realize that they need to fix things in desperate times and sometimes and often make a living with them.

It'll all come back around. i know it.

I go in one neighborhood that's one road in/out, with dead end and looping side roads. Drove all over that b!tch seeing signs with arrows but no sales, other drivers looking crazy as they drive by...

I spent a good 30 minutes last weekend looking for a sale with signs like that. Well made, bright orange with black marker, but no arrows or smaller "guide" signs inside the neighborhood once i turned off the main road. I felt like a dog chasing its tail.

Once i found the sale, i was rewarded with a pile of clothes and dishes

I really enjoy the people and the estate sale companies that leave signs up for a few weeks after the sales end. More then once i've decided to chase down a sale that already happened

Shadow, that box and set is just beautiful, did it have the tray in the box?

I don't think it was supposed to have a tray, it's not the taller box. I haven't found any examples of this style box online yet.

I just recently got a box like yous, BUT Not as nice as yours. It came with a tray in it and NO TOOLS!
