Are these any good? This weeks ad has 48" treadplate shoplights t8 for $7.99. I was thinking about the home depot lithonia grey shoplights but saw that menards had theses for less than half of the home depot ones.

American ? I've never heard of Them, but I'm sure someone here has. I have heard of lights of America. I bought 28 4 foot twin tube T8 at Wal mart for $10.97 and I'm very happy with them.

I have a bunch of that brand from Menards....not this model. I've been very happy with them. No failures or problems in 8 years.

Have you looked at the flimsy metal that is used for those? They all have cheap ballasts too, what can one expect for $7.99 though.

I am condemning all of those cheapies no matter what brand of fixture.

I just paid $35 inc. 10% GST each for 3 Generically branded four ft. 2 x 36 watt fluorescent units complete with electronic ballasts and trifosphor tubes. That's with a trade discount at an electrical wholesalers.
Marginally cheaper than the big box stores here in Australia and the quality is better to.

I'm very happy with my tandem T8's in my garage. They have Phillips ballasts. Bought some double 4' T8's for the basent as they are on sale.

I've had awesome luck with their white shop lights. Even in the cold it fired up without issue. Been using them many years I find them to be of decent quality. Considering the price cannot go wrong.

I used to work for Lithonia. They didn't make these particular lights in the facility I was in, but what we did build was pretty good quality. I've had Lithonia's lights in my previous house and garage. Didn't have a problem with them.

I have 4 48" basic American Fluorescent fixtures in my garage and they have been fine, even in sub-zero weather. I think I paid $20 each on sale.

I have 12 of the plain white American Florescent 48" fixtures from Menards. Bought 4 at a time whenever they were on sale. Work well, in even in sub-zero temperatures. No failures in 4 years (and if one does go out, replacing the entire fixture is less than the cost of a replacemet ballast!)

I bought 4 of the lights when they were on sale for $10 after MIR over Labor day. I've only hooked up one so far, but it works very nice. I just find it very odd that "American Fluorescent" fixtures are made in China. It made me tear up a little bit when I saw that. The light isn't going to win any beauty prizes, but it's nicer than the $15 lights they typically sell.
