T8 fixtures with built in outlet.

Years ago at an old job we had hanging, double-lamp fixtures with a 6' cord at one end and an outlet on the other end. You could then easily daisy-chain a few of the fixtures together.

I believe they were T12's. I'm hoping to find something similar in T8 form.

Does such a thing still exist?

Some of the higher-end units have them, it's unfortunate the cheap ones don't as it is a nice feature to have. Probably a cost factor since you'd have to run some decent gauge wire in the fixture to support whatever stupid idea someone had to chain 40 of them in a row, and without the receptacle they can run 18ga just to the ballast instead.

The receptacles are cheap but good luck getting the square holes in easily.

Thanks. I'm sure the ones my employer had back then would have been expensive. It's a nice feature but I'm not going to jump through too many hoops to add them to an existing fixture.

I'll swing by the lighting supplier we use for work now and see if they know of something they can order. I don't mind spending a bit more money provided I can later flush mount them when we do our garage remodel.

Any chance you could find the SKU on your local store's website?

Lowes is 15 minutes away. Home Depot is two hours and 15 minutes away. I asked at Lowes but they didn't have anything and the lighting guy said he didn't know of anything.

I'll check Home Depot's site. I'm willing to drive for them.

I bought 3 of these Lithonia Lighting units at Home Depot. You can daisy chain them together. Each light also has a pull switch. I believe there are some 2 light fixtures that also have the plug and outlet.

Those will work. Thanks. The grids will be nice as well with my four and five year old boys being their destructive selves out there.

Can they be flush mounted? I'm not seeing anything under the specs.

No problem. It didn't say anything in the instructions about flush-mounting the lights, as chains are included to hang the fixtures. Then again, I don't remember reading that you couldn't flush mount the fixtures. I'm not sure if heat or anything else would be a problem with flush mounting.

i just purchased 2 of these. home depot offers free shipping, which is nice. i couldn't find any similar 2-bulb units.
