I had one RJ-45 rolling jacks so I thought it was time to get another, I also bought the rolling jack lift pad adapter kits and the Bendpak air line kit. The lift pad kit is made to use on a narrower car, you can slide them in or out. With the kit you get a short round pad assembly and a taller one. Installed them today, very nice setup.......

I installed my HD9 lift 2 months ago and did not know about the lift pad kit. I like that idea for the narrow cars. Looks great

At first I thought it was going to be assigned a IP address and be controlled over your network using a RJ45 port.

Yeah those are awesome. I think we were the first ones to convert ours over back in September 2011. It's definitely got some use since then

Look at pic #5, I believe the jack is all the way down, And it's above the ramp.
I will double check when I go out to the garage.

Chris. Do you have the safety anti tip brackets on your RJ-45's. I tried and there was just not space between the ramps in standard narrow position. The thickness nut on each side pushes the jack to tight and won't roll unless you REALLY push on it. I ended up taking mine off.

I've got mine on both sides without problem. Weird.

What are the "safety anti tip brackets"? I have never had my jack lean or tip, but someone must have if Bendpak has added this to the jack. Could a picture be posted of what it looks like?

I like the new adapter kit for smaller cars and would like to get one, however, I couldn't find a part number for it. Anyone have a part number and cost? thanks Junkman

What model lift do you have? I have a HD9XW. With the brackets on and the jack set as narrow it will go it's about 1/4-3/8" to wide. It binds up as you try to roll it. With a car on the lift and 5 ft+ off the ground the amount of force needed to move the jack moves the the entire hoist. NOT a good deal to have it wiggle 5-6"

The same model as you HD9XW and RJ45. When you say as narrow as it will go do you mean the distance between the arms or the difference between the jack rollers? Mine doesn't roll "easily" but it's a 300 lb jack. I didn't notice any binding on the safety brackets or bolts.

Here's one of my my RJ7's with those 2 hole adapter brackets... They are welded to the jacks. I don't think they are for anything else.

That is the bracket that holds the jack lift adapters and pads when they are not in the arms of the jack.

The manual says that they are safety brackets,I hope you can tell from this pic.

I wonder why it looks just like the adapter bracket? Kinda a goofy designed safety bracket. How does it make the jack safe?

Without the safety brackets I can get the jack into its narrowest position and this puts the center to center distance of the rollers at approx 36"apart. With the brackets it's about 36.375. The ramps surface that the jack rides on is about 35.75 -36".

So with the safety brackets on the rollers are almost off the flat surface and are rubbing on the angle part of the roller. Besides that the jack get stuck against the ramp in some areas.

Once it took off the brackets I can roll the jack with one hand. I'd say 25% the effort. If the ramps were even 1/2" farther apart I would have no problems. I thought about drilling new holes but I hate making more holes in that support beam.

Here are pictures of my brackets. They appear to keep the rollers from coming off the rails and the jack dropping if somethings shifts. I can see where if the decks are in the narrow position and the jack has to have the rollers moved in how the nuts might rub on the jack however wouldn't the bolt end and nut not move and still not interfere with movement no matter what the position?

Can't you rework the bolt and put a carriage bolt with a smaller head on the side where it prevents you from adjusting the width?

Your fine since you don't have your ramps in the narrow position. The problem is the bolt head keeps the sliding part away from the center lift part. the bolt head is only about 1/8" but with one on each side its a 1/4"+ and that's just enough to bind things up. I'm leaving mine off. Screw it.

911mike: The distance between the bolt head and the rollers is fixed. No matter how you increase or decrease the width of the jack the bolt heads (and rolling wheels) are at the same distance from the ramps as it's related to the rails. Moving the ramps closer and thus having to decrease the reach of the jack might cause the bolt heads to hit the jack (not the ramps). However since the bolts move with the jack any interference there shouldn't hinder anything. Maybe I'm missing something?

^^^yeah, I don't think the width between the ramps has anything to do with it.

I just got and installed mine. To install the safety brackets, I had to insert the bolts before lowering the jack down onto the rails. Not easy, but doable.

Problem I'm having is it's extremely hard to move the jack. I know the jack is heavy, but should it be this difficult to move? I would of thought I could easily position the jack.

Thanks GJ for the tip about unloading the jack. Lowered the tailgate of the truck, backed up to the lift, raised it to the tailgate level, and just slide the ******** the truck onto the lift. So simple I was able to do it myself.

Mine doesn't have safety brackets installed yet but it was still hard to move. I took out the rollers and found they were full of paint and binding (looks like they were dipped in paint). I blasted off as much paint as I could then soaked them in laquer thinner to get rid of the rest. I dipped them in 10wt oil and put them back on. Moves really easy now.
