There must of bee some confusion. When he started the new thread Lonegunman and myself put in dibs.

Shortly after that I got an email asking for payment via Paypal (I assumed he sent that email to both of us). I immediately sent payment for:

Blue-Point (Knipex) nippers $20
Snap-On 90BP pliers $25
Snap-On 87CF heavy cutting pliers $25
Snap-On 208ACP battery terminal pliers $20
Snap-On Electronic Plier, EP892A $15

The seller responded right back that he got the payment and would be shipping out the tools asap.

I THINK he was using the "first to pay gets them". Which seems like a valid way to make sure stuff is sold and not just "wished for".

Sorry for the confusion.

Whatever. Not how I would have done it, but whatever. I thought it was pretty clear to me and with talking with LoneGunman it was clear to him as well.

Valid my ***, I have never seen anyone do that and I buy a lot of stuff online, the standard way to do things is to mark them as pending. Some of the sites I frequent would ban him for doing what he did.

I'm not complaining about not getting the stuff at all , I did send him an "offer" and he is totally within his right not to take that offer and sell them to someone who offered him the full asking price or whatever. My only problem with the seller is as I have already stated, BMW posted first and the seller sold them to someone else because he got the payment in first, if that's what happened.

Steve, none of this is directed at you, you were told to send the funds and you did

I don't know.. maybe because I didn't make an offer and instead gave what he was asking. He sent me an email and I paid. For all I knew anyone before me backed out on the sale. (insert shrug here).

Thanks... I don't anyone ticked off at me. :)

With all this interest and no followup post from a low post count OP, I hope this is legit. If not, this would be the second scam I almost got bitten by this week.

1. I'm legit, and everyone paid by paypal, so there's no scam. I'm on ebay as "ericandkendaliaedelman" for around 8 or 9 years and 300+ positive feedback. I'm also an upstanding business owner in my community. Rest assured, everyone's packages went out this morning by priority mail, and you should have them all this week. In addition, I use my real name on this site, and I'm listed in the phone book.

2. I'm sorry that some of you did not get the items you asked for. However, some of you didn't ask very nicely. One fellow tells me he wants 5 items, then he wants only two, and wants them shipped for free. Another gentleman wants me to build him some packaging materials to save five bucks on shipping. I don't mind negotiating, but please be reasonable about things. Besides, I wrote in the ad that shipping was $10 for a flat rate priority mail box.

3. Everything was a good deal and it went quickly, it's not like I was holding out for anywhere near a retail price on anything. And, we're still living in America. I can sell my stuff to whoever, whenever, and at whatever price I feel like.

Eric - I feel I received an outstanding deal and great service. And I would not hesitate to purchase more items from you in the future. Once again, thank you very much and Aloha from Hawaii,

I must be one of the "unreasonable" persons referred to, who politely asked if a single pair of $20 pliers could be shipped either first class or flat rate envelope, rather than a flat rate box for $10. I don't recollect asking you to build anything.

Please explain to me how shipping a 6oz pair of pliers for $10 is more reasonable than shipping them first class for $3? Frankly, I assumed that when you changed your mind and decided to sell the pliers separately, the flat-rate box option no longer applied... which is why I asked.

And a simple "no" would have been preferable to (1) no communication, which apparently left a number of us wondering if we had a deal or not; or (2) an insult aimed at me as your parting shot.

Regarding another journal member who changed his mind...so what? You changed yours several times. You changed prices, you changed buyers, you changed bundling options, you changed threads. You weren't exactly a model of consistency yourself.

one more reason to set a post count for classified's......personally i don't like the idea of people coming here JUST to sell things or pump up thier ebay auctions.

i'm not involed at all with this thread but as an outsider i think things should/could have been handled better by the OP.

I agree. I HATE tie-ins to ebay, since I don't ever buy anything there, having gotten burned one too many times. I only buy from a small group like this board.

And by the way, I have no horse in this race, I'm just an interested observer.

1. Just because I don't have a lot of posts doesn't mean I don't enjoy reading the message board here.

2. Maybe I could have handled my tool sale a little nicer. So, in the spirit of the holidays, if each of you who feels that you were wronged by my tool sale here would send along your name and address, I'll send you one of the leftovers for free, no shipping charges. I still have a few pliers and some other items, but it'll be at least a week before I can mail anything since this is a very busy week in the office for me. This offer only applies to the people who have posted here in this thread just how rotten of an SOB I really am. And, once you receive your free item, I'll expect a full retraction and if you cold post a receipt from a charitable contribution you've made for the value of the tool, that'd be great too.

I agree.

I also dont think it would be a bad idea to have a sticky at the top of the classifieds for ebay listings only, whether they are your own you are linking to, or just auctions you've stumbled across and are just sharing... The thread can be reset every 2 weeks or so to keep from getting too long..

just a thought

I don't think it should matter if someone has a low post count but comes here to sell tools. In this case, the poster obviously had GREAT deals, which is why all the parts vaporized in a few days and had multiple people wrangling over them. A good deal is a good deal...although I'd agree that a link to an eBay ad is much less desirable than them being sold here exclusively first.

As to the handling of the sale, that is not my business, I'm just commenting on the OPs ability to sell here in general.

I love extending a good pile-on, so I thought I'd mention that none of the items that were sold here were listed on ebay. And, each time I changed the prices or bundles, I deleted the information in the old post.

I was planning to list things on ebay today to continue my end of year office cleaning, but nothing actually got listed yet.

By all means, please keep the comments coming on all the evil I've wrought in the past few days. :)

Me, I'm lookin forward to gettin the S&K pliers and screw drivers that I got a great deal on. As he had asked in his first post, I emailed him and instead of offering anything I just axed what was the best he could do and his response was very acceptable and I PayPaled him the $$ immediately. Hope to do business with again.

Never had any S&K pliers or screw drivers so it will be interesting seeing the quality and how well they stand up to workin on old Buicks.
