Kobalt Torque Wrench

Picked one up today for $39 at Lowes. I'm fairly impressed with it. It matches my bosses techangle snap on wrench on the few test nuts I played around with when I got back to the hangar, comes with a pretty recent calibration certificate, and a nice plastic storage case. It looks and feels very high end (I work in a hangar where we do owner assisted annuals and maintenance so appearance matters). I like it, now to unleash the wrath of the garage journal on how I got ripped off, how much better your 5 dollar hf torque wrench is etc... What I'm really interested in is other people who have the kobalt 3/8 torque 20-100 ft lbs torque wrench and your experience. Seemed to me like a screaming deal for someone like me who is not using it every day.

I looked at them... I ended up with an HF trio, but that's just because I was broke as a joke and the extra $30 went in my gas tank to get to work. For $40 I might think about another. I really dig the blue handle. I'm so shallow.

my dad brought a identical non blue handle one from a general store a few years ago to put in the trunk of his car, its great. id recommend a few drops of lube in the head tho. makes it alot quieter and smoother on the ratchet.

I picked mine up when it was on sale for $50 a while back. I've used it enough to have justified that price. So far I have torqued up to 165ft lbs with it.

I have the 3/8 and the 1/2 but I upgraded the 3/8 to a CDI because I needed something with a lower range. I like my CDIs wrenches better I still use my 1/2 and it works great, I have been using them for about 3 years. They are good wrenches for the price.

I've got a 1/2" one. Excellent quality torque wrench. It wasn't cheap though well worth the price. Love that lift up mechanism super easy to operate. It was either this, husky, or a lower end craftsman. I bought it because it has a lifetime warranty (even though it technically doesn't) plus not chinese.

cdi are made in USA and the main thing I like about them is they lock in the stationary position. This feature is very handy.

Prices aren't too bad (at least on amazon) on some of their entry level stuff. Might check them out in the future for a 3/8".

I think the Kobolt TW's (when they are on sale) are very good deal for the average casual user. My only grip with them is their torque ranges. Some people say they are the same (or at least no better) then the HF's "Pittsburgh" TW's but I don't know how true that is?
