9450 4 1/2" I just finished, It was in rough shape, lots of slag and over weld on the back, new wiltonviseparts.net jaws.

After:

Holy poop! What a nice restoration!

The above post of that 101033 is a 9450. Back when Wilton was making that vise, they cataloged it as a 450. Wilton made upgrades in 1975 when they introduced the current model that they use today. 1998 they made some changes in the back but it did not change its Specs. If one were to sell it, it would be a 9450/101033 , not to confuse it with the 450 of today.

Bhfear, what was that coated with? Looks almost like bedliner. Ouch. What a challenge!

I scored this today at the local flea market for $30. I thought it was a steal on a 4" Wilton until I found on here that the Torco models were the low-end Wiltons that were marketed in the 1950s/60s, equivalent to the Wilton ChiCom vises today. But, good side, it was a nice condition vise, the jaws are good, has the pipe jaws, the screw opens smoothly, and it is made in USA so I'm glad about that. Since I paid market price for it, and it's not as good a deal as I thought, I think I'll repaint it gray, and use it as another shop vise until I get Torco's big brother vises, like the C1 or C2.

I like the old Rust/Welding Spatter/Bedliner, look. Makes it look touchable and useable.

Just kidding. Beautiful restore job.

Oh my, that is green, green, green! I like it! Nice job.

Here's a little 3 1/8" Polish vise that's just been cleaned up and lubed. Not going for a repaint on this one. I like the original decal in good shape and the paint looks fine.

I like these vises. The tension adjustments on them really result in some fine feeling action.

Beautiful Craftsman Neon.

It's my opinion, and just my opinion, that----and I can't believe I'm saying this----Columbian beat out Reed and Rock Island on the Craftsman designs. They just dress out nicer, more sleek and streamlined. I have two like yours, minus the restore. Hope mine turn out half as good as yours.

Very nice vice balane. Looks practically unused. I love the Poland's, very well made, and a unique action. I'd like to have one with 6 inch jaws, but those things really command a premium, the reason I don't have one. Is that one E-bay bound or is it a keeper?

Thanks. I'm very impressed with them too. A couple pages back I showed a Wilton C1 that I restored for somebody. This is his also and he asked me to do a quick cleanup on it for him. So it will be going back to him soon.

Well I didn't technically buy it but I did just refinish this one for somebody else. 4 1/2" Wilton C1, 1978. Italian Olive is the color.

.

Great job on Dean's vise! I'm glad you fixed it up for him, looks amazing!

I got this one attached to a big metal table. Was told to come pick it up as they were moving and didn't want to mess with it. It was stuck from sitting in the weather but works pretty decent now. I do want to restore it the best I can but don't know much about it.

Hollands are sought after here, from what I gather. That model is missing the pipe jaws (see the square nuts on the side? Those are supposed to hold in the pipe jaws, which are not there).

Is there a place to get parts for these? Or do you just have to find another one as a donor.

You'll probably be better off making a set than waiting (forever) to find another one. Here's a page from a Hollands catalog from around 1915 that shows your vise.

Jeez, so you are the guy thats sucking up all the vises off of CL. I keep an eye on it but i guess i'm not looking often enough.

Btw, that Prentiss happens to look like ****. You should drive by my house and just toss it over the fence so you won't have to look at it anymore.

Any spare parts for sale, sources or ideas out there to put this back in service, hopefully restored, and help me get the import off my bench.

Needs a 7/8-4 main nut. Original part, which I saw on another post, had D45-4B on it, the manufacturer (Columbian) stock#. Must have been used on their D45 vises also.

Thanks.

I usually post vises and Diamonds. But, I bought this block at an auction for reasonable and flipped it the next morning at a swap meet. Best I can figure is that it might be a "cushion block" as part or a RR coupling assembly. 1940 mark on it coincides with patents for the new, longer flatbeds introduced at that time. I can't sort out the drawings to find this part, however. Marked "Waugh" & "Gould". Both respected names in RR equipment. What is cool about it is the Hardened Steel top. Really pretty ring when hammered. Bottom sounds dull when struck. I am guessing that the top is a forging that was incorporated into a sand casting mold. Iron would then be poured into the mold and would harden around the steel. 19 1/2 high. 187 lbs. Nice to know a guy can still lift his weight at 70 years.

Here's a Yost 41C with before and after pics. The color is Rustoleum safety red from a can that's been in the garage for several years, so I was looking for a reason to use it.

I think the jaw came as shown in the last pic. I've seen two more of these vises that had very abused jaws, but you could still see remnants of the grooves.
