Bought one about 2 months back. Bright like crazy for the first half hour, then less and less until after about 1 1/2 to 2 hours, the bright mode is about as bright as the dim mode. If ya get one, buy a bunch of batteries.

i have the protac hl, it is extremly bright for the first hour or so then dims, it gets hot in use. its my back up/room searching light since it throws a relatively wide beam

I have the protac 2aa version. It's very bright! I have only owned it for a week and I have not used it much so I can't say anything for the battery life. It's supposed to stay full brightness until it dies though.

I also bought the stylus pro and am very impressed with it. Used it tonight while working on a car, it's a bright little pen light.

My experience with Streamlights and Pelicans that run lithium 123's are about the same as Mech and Metal said... bright as sh!t for an hour or two then it slowly fades. In a dark room its not enough to matter to me. I carry a Pelican PM6 3330 every day that uses 2 CR123's and even though dimmer than it could be, I haven't put new batteries in it in a year. I should proly replace them soon lol

I've had the bigger version for over a year. Takes 2 batteries instead of 1. I've been very impressed with it. I use it for little stuff like going out into the backyard at night, working under the sink, etc. So when I use it, it's only for 5 minutes or so. Compared to what I'm used to, it's astoundingly bright. Even after the batteries wear down a bit I find it to be still better than the AAA or AA lights I used to have. Likely the 2 battery cells give it more useful life than the 1 cell. I'm pleased with mine.

I have the 2L model it's very bright and I'm happy with it. I'd say it gets warm not hot but, I haven't had to run it for extended periods either nothing >10mins continuous duty.

The stinger light series is the best and the most common used by pro techs. I had mine for maybe less than 2 years but since this a.m. doesn't work and feeling lost w/o it.. does any one know if it has lifetime warranty??

I have the rechargeable Strion LED flashlight, and have used it for years while wearing a number of different uniforms. Everything from working the streets, SWAT, and now as a flight medic, it has gone just about everywhere with me. It's even been ran over by a cop who was being inattentive in his then new Dodge Charger, and it never even shut off. You can barely see where there was a rock between it and the asphalt. I've replaced the battery once in its years of service, but it has saved me a ton on 123A batteries. Overall, I don't have anything bad to say about the Streamlight company and will buy from them again.

DId you charge the battery right. I get much longer on my streamlight. I love mine because it has dual on buttons. The batteries are decent at holding a charge over long periods.

I left my under the hood of a car in Arizona for three months, did I mention it was summer. So I find it in the engine bay on the trans when they come back, press the button still turns on. So it likely saw 170 degree temps and looked the exact same as the day I bought it.

If you do buy one don't buy non led, poly is durable and light, don't buy one off the truck, huge mark up. I got the police model for 125 with two chargers. Prices vary greatly as I found when I bought it. One place wanted over 200 IIRC.

I keep one in my pocket at work. It is my back up flashlight in case I'm searching a building or out in the woods and my main light dies.

You can get the replacement batteries off e-Bay for a reasonable price.

That said, I've broken two of my streamlight flashlights (not stinger) from abuse and called streamlight to purchase replacement parts. I told them on the phone that I had busted the light and wanted to purchase replacement parts. The CSR apologized for the flashlight failing and a few days later the parts arrived in the mail, no charge.

I've been real tempted by the Strion. One thing that streamlight does well with the stinger series is the design of the click-in charging system. It doesn't require you to fumble around with a separate cord trying to plug it into the light, it doesn't require you to remove and install batteries, it keeps the light in the same place (charging) all the time. Just click it into the charger and it's done. In addition you can get 12v chargers for your vehicle. I believe there is also a charger available that will hold the light and an extra battery should the primary battery fail.

For me there is value in being able to return the light to the charger at the end of the day in the shop, or to the charger mounted in the truck when done with the light such that it is always charged and ready to go.

The Strion also looks to have a real 'anti-roll' feature vs the stingers rubber ring thingy. Few things are more frustrating than having your hands full doing something and set the light down on the bench/floor/hood-of-car only to have it roll out of reach.

Also the Strions smaller form factor is appealing.

I use the protac 2a it takes 2 aa batteries and I average a week of use per set of batteries and I carry it 24/7

I need to get a backup battery, either from Ebay or Amazon.

My original battery stopped holding a charge, which was disappointing. It was only a couple years old and didn't see too much use. Maybe sitting around was bad for it? But yeah, when fully charged its REALLY bright. I bought a replacement at a local police outfitter's shop, since I didn't have time to order one online.

Nothing but good things to say about it. I need something I can keep in the pocket of my dress pants (yeah yeah, my day job requires it) without worrying of being accused of ****** harassment.

Everytime someone needs a flashlight and I provide this they laugh because it is so small... until they use it, then they are instantly impressed. It generates a very practical and surprising amount of light for such a tiny flashlight.

I've bought larger (2xAA) versions for my inspectors, they love them.

Yes, it does have a nice anti-roll design. The only MINOR this about the charging setup is I have to occasionally clean the contacts before I slide it on the charger because I tend to get some **** or gunk in there.

Sounds familiar. I had an original stylus, uses AAAA cells. I ran it over with my truck and dented the case. It worked till batteries went dead. I ran into a rep of theirs at a gun shop and asked if he had any ideas about repairing it. He said mail it in. I did with explanation that my stupidity caused the damage. I got a new one.

The agency I work for issued SX-20s (black with rubber grips) to the troops. Ive seen them come in in pieces from bouncing on the road. Box em up mail them back, they get replaced. Unfortunately Streamlight isn't the current flashlight vendor, but the guys that have Streamlights, dont let them out of their sight.

I had a Stylus Pro. Great til the battery leaked. Stumbled across a Pelican 1910 locally, using it now tho I'm not so impressed with the pocket clip on it... needs to be further up to keep the light from flipping out of my pocket.

My stream was repair for a faulty button under warranty in Houston repair center no questions ask and also replaced lens(scratches) for $10.00. I bought a new stream light cause when my light was down I was like a chicken with no head. Stream is expensive for home usage will recommend for pros only

You are right, looks like it's just 53% off the list price not the amazon price. Regularly $107, now $82. Oh well.
