Hi all,
I am a nooby here, but i am really liking the site!! i have a standard 2 car garage & i am in the process of redoing it. i have a question concerning the wires that run for the led beams that make the door stop. my question is what can i do with them in relation to "hiding them???:headscrat the door & appertanances have been there & therefore the small wires going to the black LED casings at the bottom of the the door track are just stapled along the edging of the garage door "frame". i am going to paint the whole garage & i thought that i might use some small wire channel & "encase" them (painting the casing as well) i would like to know if anyone has suggestions or would tell me what they have had done???:) thanks for the time....

love the site!!

I'd use wire mold or something similar and paint it. Wire mold is available at hd/lowes or you local electrical supply or probably even online somewhere.

I just staple them and paint the wires. No one is going to look there anyway.

I agree - wiremold is overkill for the 24 ga wire they use for these sensors. it's thin enough to just paint over and nobody will even notice.

Or you could replace the LED sensors with a system of lasers and mirrors that would allow you to mount the laser source in an inconspicous location and reflect the beam with mirrors across the opening.

If it's that big of a deal your thinking of buying wire molding, why not go out and buy a spool of doorbell wire and fish it through the walls and up into the attic and then drop it back down overtop of the opener? Looks better/professional and you wont have a ton of money wrapped up in that wire molding which is'nt cheap...just a few hours of labor to fish and pull.

all,
thanks for the ideas. i think i am just going to use good staples put the wire along the side of the wood framing of the garage door. it basically would be "hidden" at that point anyways, thanks again...
IHI,
I would do your suggestion, but it is a older house & garage & i don't want to go to too much effort. thanks for the time in your suggestion.

thanks again all...
p.s. i love this site!

Radioshack used to have a very thin ribbon cable that had adhesive on one side and could be painted over. It is lke a roll of 1" wide tape, 1/64th thick. I looked and they don't carry it, or I can't find it on their site, but other may have it...
