ok ya got me there. the bottom end is '55 and left the factory as a panhead.
heck the bottom end may(is) be the only thing from '55. putting a shovel top was the hot lick back in the 70s.
my title says '55 so as far as the DMV knows it is:beer:

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Nice!!! I hope that being in Georgia, that you won't need it on a daily basis though. They can spin a power meter. By buddy put one in his garage, and he was out there almost every day for a month until he got his power bill. Later on this winter, if you would, come back an let others know what it runs you. I know that Georgia will be different than the **** weather we have in Ohio though. I run propane on a 120 gallon tank, never let the garage get below 50f and when I'm out there I kick it up to 70f. The tank of propane last me maybe 1 1/2 months. So I'd be curious how electric compares. BTW....my heater is a 45,000btu Hamilton.

Ooh! Ooh! I started installing mine last night. Is yours 5K or 7.5K? I got the 7.5K to push back the New York winter.

Mine is the 7.5K in a 30x30 with open trusses and 10' walls.

I was hoping to just knock off the chill. Since it was supposed to get below 30° last night, I left it on low from about 9 last night until about 9 this morning when I went out to move some things. It was not cold, but was not warm either. I checked the meter last night when I walked out and again when I walked in this morning. It cost me 11 kwhr. I don't think my 10 sets of T8's used that much the first month I had them turned on.

I might have to put in a ceiling of some sort even though I didn't really want to. I also had to put a box fan over in that corner on a ladder to help move the warm air around. I could tell a noticeable difference from one side of the building to the other. Maybe some ceiling fans would help? It would be cheaper than a ceiling.

I had some Multi-Color LED lights that I was trying to use as task lightning but it just wasn't bright enough so I ended up with something else but I still had a strip of these multi-color LEDs. I thought it would make a good Under counter top light to add light to the drawers in the work bench.

Changed the oil in the Benz ('67) and noticed some seepage from the left side of the head gasket.

Uh, oh.

Mine is also a 7.5K in a 22x30. I have a small propane bullet heater that works well, but pushes a bunch of moisture into the air resulting in a lot of condensation. It's also a bit of a pain to manage the temp by turning it on and off.

I only heat the garage when I'm out there doing something. I plan use both units to take the chill off and leave the electric to maintain it. The electric should be perfect for that.

My garage is attached with insulated walls and drywall ceiling. At some point I'm going to insulate the ceiling/attic, which will cost about $400.

11kwhr is a lot of power. My Chevy Volt takes 16.5kwhr for a full 38 mile charge. That's a lot of energy.

I moved my compressor and scrubbed under it. Put a drain in the compressor to make oil changes easier. Started building the framing for the wall behind it. Also started a shelving system above my main workbench. Stopping by the Home Depot to get the rest of my needed supplies. Keith

Finished up another work table for the shop.

Reclaimed lumber, reclaimed table base from a paper ream cutter with 14 gauge legs and shelf.

Added some free casters to it.

I'm into this one for about $9 in paint.

Primed some siding for my new addition. It's the only stuff I could find that matches the rest of the house. The manufacture says prime it or no warranty. Was able to do 30 Saturday and 30 today. Need about 50 more. They are 12 inches high and 16 feet long.

Took the next step in upgrading my workbench situation by finishing the install of the two side boxes and started on the frame for the two big boxes.

Cleaned up an oil spill. I'm not storing used motor oil in plastic milk gallons anymore. It just cracked sitting there on the floor. good thing it was only half full. or have empty.

I use Home Depot 5 gal buckets for that very reason.

For this:

I have the same heater. It was too costly to try and heat the whole garage so I started using a heavy clear construction plastic on a 3/4 in conduit rod assembly to surround my work area. I direct the heat into the work space and it makes it very comfortable on cold mornings. As a disclaimer, living in Northern California is not really having cold weather but its cold enough for me.:D

I don't think "moving" your garage qualifies as working "in" your garage. That looks like a big job. Do you have a thread on it ... or can you start one? It looks fascinating.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Performed a major service on our coach over the weekend before putting it away for a couple of months. This way she will be ready to roll after the first of the year for the new RV season.

Changed oil, filters, serviced the oil bath hubs on the steer and tag axles, changed the desiccant filter/dryer cartridge and repaired a shock mount that I noticed was in need of some attention.

I use anti-freeze, windshield wash and laundry / fabric softener bottles when I run out of empty oil bottles.

I made a trellis out of 1/2" PVC pipe and connectors.

That's a neat idea. I'll have to remember that for the spring.

Replaced a lower ball joint on my aging Honda Civic. Autozone has a free tool loaner program where I got the ball joint press and the Honda adaptors - you leave a deposit, which is refunded in full upon return of the tool(s) within 30 days.

I moved houses for 6 years. It's a lot of work, but the payoff is great.

I believe any house is mobile:lol_hitti
