Can you do a review of this and the 1/2 version ( I think I remember you purchasing that one as well). Can't decide if I want the milwaukee to go with my m12 fuel or the ir 20v
Didn't get the 1/2 yet. I hope to get it in dec.

Pretty pleased with this. Everything went together easily and it runs true and straight. Had a $20 off coupon and another 5% online discount.

Setup my new Craftsman Belt/Disc sander- 2"x42" belt and 6" disc.
Wanted a small one I could always have available instead of setting up my ShopSmith attached 6" belt or 10" disc.

Didn't take pics - these are from the website.
Those are actually really nice. I didn't realize craftsman still made them. Where are they made these days? I bought mine back when I started to get into bladesmithing, ~8ish years ago. Mine is COO Taiwan. They are actually a really nice little unit. Mine has seen a very heavy diet of metal and still runs perfectly. Only downside is finding the belts in that length. Enjoy it.![]()
That blows. I wonder when they switched.Made in China.
Yea it is one of if not the most economical 2" belt sanders out. Next step up you are looking at ~$600 or build your own. I chose the latter. Belts are out there - Jet & Grizzly use the same size. Google is your friend.
No need to tell me. My point was that belts of different grits are a pain to find compared to the more common 2x72. Luckily I have a local shop that makes belts to order pretty cheap. I've got up to 2K grit in those 2x42. Over the years it has become a more common grinder for knife makers to get into on the cheap, so I think a few manufactures such as kingspore and even norton/3m have started to produce the 2x42 belts. You can always run the more common 1x42 if you want.
StevenB - what's the p/n or sku on that Ridgid? I couldn't find it on HD or Ridgid's sites. ft lbs?

For the disk I just use spray adhesive and cut my own papers from 8.5*11 sheets. Cheap and easy.

What do you plan on using it for? There are a bunch of upgrades and mods people have done for them. I'd suggest start off with a ceramic platen.![]()
Just going to be used for small odds & ends. Wood, steel, aluminum. Like the brackets I made for my shutoff switch on my Shopsmith. Shown here:

Any links/suggestions to check out the common mods?

Total damage was about $120. Didn't like the XLT pliers/cutters, the handles flexed a bit too much for my liking.
Those look SAE, did you get any metric ones besides the very top?![]()

They do need to make all SAE and all metric adjustables don't they?
Don't forget the left hand ones.
Looks new. Where'd you get it for that price? NOrmally about $300 right?Thank you! Only paid $225 for it which is the only reason I bought it right now.
