Help! Napa Professional Tools being phased out

I have looked EVERYWHERE for replacement wrenches of the old Napa Professional Series to no avail! frankly I am frustrated and am truly dissatisfied with the new Carlyle wrenches, particularly because they stick out like a sore thumb from my Napa Professional set.

I found an old thread here from 2011 and figured it was probably better to start a new one.

I have already tried my local Napa retailer and all they could offer me were the new Carlyle brand.

If anyone out there has the wrenches listed below, new or used, I would be most grateful. IF nothing comes of this, at least I tried. Thanks in advance all!

Ebay. Napa Professional was supplied by Danaher and Danaher spun off all its tool companies into Apex tool group and then sold them so Napa went elsewhere which is what Carlyle came from.

Napa Professional wrenches should be pretty much identical to Armstrong wrenches as well but if you want the matching script then ebay is your best bet.

Thanks for replying, and informing me of how Carlyle came about. I asked the parts counterperson but he had no idea why Napa switched to Carlyle. As far eBay goes, I did find and buy 2 that I was missing but the two in this particular thread were not on eBay. :-(

Cripe was selling them as sets earlier in the year.And singles do pop up from time to time on ebay.Did you have the shorter USA made set or the longer Napa Pro wrenches that were basically rebadged GearWrench? The only used the GW clones for a short time.If you could find some old stock polished KD wrenches they would match besides the name.

Judging from the part numbers hes looking its the full polish USA made ones. Like I said Armstrong wrenches should be identical except for the script. If memory serves Armstrong "short" wrenches would be about the same dimensionally as Napa Pro wrenches were definitely shorter than something like a Cman Pro aka Armstrong Long combo.

I work at a NAPA Auto Care Center, and get a discount on tools...so I buy them, I had to (decided after not finding a rebuild kit)trade in a broken NAPA USA Nb57 ratchet for a Carlyle R38F. It has a higher tooth count, but doesnt seem as stout as my old NB57....Im pushing the R38f hard to test it..time will tell. I also just got a R12FQR 1/2" drive, so far all I have used it for are turning engines over, and some stubborn bolts. These are both the long handle flex head ratchets.. and I do like the feel of them. Im going to put these to the test, and find out if Carlyle tools really are "professional grade" as they state.

KD full polished combination wrenches available from Cripe Distributing via their Ebay store will be a direct match (aside from script) for your US Made NAPA professional series wrenches. length, style, and finish are the same because they all rolled off the factory at one time.

I have a R38QR as a warranty for the older style ratchet and I prefer the newer style over the Danaher model.For what its worth,the older style broke with a cheater pipe but I would of bent the handle before I busted the gears on the newer one,this was on the 90 tooth series,not even the standard model.That being said,I have had issues with the P90 series jamming up randomly.The long 1/2 flex would jam up under heavy load and the 3/8 long flex did randomly as well.The 9" flex head and 8" comfort grip worked great however.

To the OP- I have both the SAE and Metric 11 peice Napa Professional, made in USA, combo wrench sets and I don't care for them. I will trade you these sets for the matching Carlyle sets! For me, the Napa PRO USA wrenches are too short and the chrome is not durable enough. The couple of Carlyle wrenches I have seem much nicer to me.... Call me Crazy I guess.

To the above poster, I have 3 Carlyle ratchets. Although the ratchets worked fine, I got ambitious and took all of them apart. None of them had any lube, just an oxidized brown residue inside. After cleaning them and re-lubing them with superlube, the ratchets are 10x better than before! Smoother, Quieter, more positive and the directional lever feels better. If your Carlyle ratchets are acting up, I bet ya a nickle that they just need lube.

Even there, over time they re-tool or outsource and you can't match, so your plan over the long haul won't fly... Long term the only way to keep the OCD at bay is the used market. (God I'm glad I don't have that...)

This is the way to do it if you are patient. I needed a napa 1/4 inch raised paned design wrench and waited almost 2 years to find one on ebay.

I feel your pain on the not matching, I have a 7/8 in the professional full polish that spread that I hate to warranty for that reason. That being said I have a metric set of the carlyle and I use the **** out of them, they are just as good as the usa ones IMO.
