Painting a Snap On box

Hi everyone, new guy here.
I outgrew my Snap On KRA boxes a few years ago, and got a great deal on a Snap On KRL722. It's Extreme Green, no one wanted it. I've been looking for a KRL791 top box to match it without putting the Snap On mans kids through college. I found a deal on a used one, but in turquoise. Anyone ever paint a Snap On box? I have no access to a paint booth, I'm guessing I'll be using rattle cans. Need not be perfect, just hoping they match.

Many Napa stores can paint match and mix up rattle cans.

I think if I was you, I'd take that box you're planning on buying and have a body shop do it. Rattle cans are great for smaller boxes and restorations, but if the only thing you're doing is changing the color, let a pro do it. It will look much better, and save you a lot of time and effort too.

Listen to Lookin' I think he has painted a box or two.

In case you are not familiar, Lookin' has quite a few famous box repaints floating around the web. So he knows what he is talking about when it comes to painting a box.

BTW, If you do decide to do this at all, especially yourself, don't bother with spray cans. At the minimum use rustoleum in the quart, cut with acetone and spry through a gun.

Personally I'm thinking the turquoise and bright green would go well together.

I bought one of those in that horrible cranberry and I re painted it with Rustolium red and it came out great. But It's a big time killing job.

if your going to buy aerosols you may aswell buy a cheap spray gun and shot it yourself, its a much better finish.

personally id put it through a shop if your not willing to buy a spray gun and do it yourself rather than aerosol. if you strip and prep it yourself your looking at a hours labour and the paint costs, you could prime it with aerosols and flat it back yourself.

i had my red box painted green, luckily i have a family painter who already had the paint. but it took me a good day to prep it completely.

I'd stick with the 2 tone look if it were me. Painting a box is a big job and unless it is done professionally, your resale value is squat. Buy the box, use it as is and keep looking for a match to your roller. Or better yet, find a match to the top and sell the extreme green one. They sell very well on the used market.

I just wouldn't paint a box unless the finish was bad.

If you have air, paint it yourself. This was done outside with a $12 gun from Princess Auto.
