Hi Steve,
yeah mate i finally got myself a model a, it's very sad so it won't be getting a roadworthy this week but at least i can say i own one. I will build a chassis for it myself but nothing will get started until i have collected a lot of parts first.
I will be building at a bit of a rat rod so a few inches will be cut out of it as well, i might do a thread over in the other section once i begin the process. I am still waiting for your thread mate. can you show me some pics of your roadster Steve as that was my first choice and the tudor as a second option and it came up first. Hopefully a roadster will pop up one day at the right price and hopefully alot more complete. When you are looking at buying a coupe will it be a project car or something already done Steve? Lee
Lee,
I am putting together some pics for a thread, still a work in progress however.
The roadster restoration is about 75% complete, a drivable chassis, guards and running boards are finished and ready to bolt on, the body is on a dolly at the moment ready to fit doors and boot lid then a final blow over with paint. Pretty much all of the jewellery is done and ready for bolt on. I will be importing a Lebaron Bonney upholstery kit from top to kick plate next year.
Time, wife (very supportive), work, kids with homes and sheds, elderly parents, other passions in life and other priorities have been my biggest issues with making much headway with the roadster so over the last couple of years I have been looking for a very nice driver coupe to enjoy.
I have looked at about 15 imported cars thus far and no more, some of these "vendors" are dreaming in terms of price and value for money for example from what I have seen take a $6 to 10k USD car, out here they sell it for $20k plus, don't get me wrong every one is entitled make a buck but I am over it!
Next step "1/2 Cup Imports Inc." (ABN provided later mr. tax man) I have been shipping stuff from the US for 30 years now but never a complete car, I do understand the pit falls..
Have a great day, we have a public holiday here for the Melb. Cup. more quality shed time.
Steve..
