special as in? vehicle?,was thinking motorcycle possibly.Gonna swing by and check it tomorrow if the guy is available.

I suspect it was designed for something much heavier than a motorcycle, I really don't know much about the brand/Heritage. Sorry...

hopefully the owner can tell me something, either way i'm pretty sure it's gonna come home with me and get freshened up.Something that makes heavy things go up with the push of a button or lever are worth 25 clams to me.:D

It sounds interesting, almost like a mini lift. According to the seller it has built in mechanical safety locks. Hum... poor mans mini lift? :dunno: I wonder what the lift height is.

I'll take big *** jack for 20 Alex!,yup,20 bucks and it came home with me today.Have no idea of tonage, but it's real beefy, any guess's?.The cylinder makes my 10 ton bottle jack look like a pepsi can.Cool jack, the cylinder has a slot cut out in it so when it max's out,it automatically locks. Then you sqeeze the lever on the handle to unlock it.

Hopefully when i break it down for the resto,i will find some info.Haven't found any tags so far.I flipped it over and nothing undernieth, nothing anywhere really.Only thing that seems to have a lot of wear is the rubber pad,but that should be an easy copy.check the pics.

Already having a tough time with info,it doesn't matter what it is,it could be a snap-on screw driver with a black handle and i would have to search for info.tryin to find the size and maybe what it looked like new so i can bring back to original.

A pneumatic only bottle has to be larger in diameter to do about the same work as a smaller hydraulic bottle. Although the bottle looks big, the actual tonnage rating might be less than what you expect, compared to a similar sized hydraulic bottle.

I believe that's a fork lift jack.

When I first seen it, That's what I thought too. After looking at the OP's Pictures I don't think its rated for near that kind of tonnage.

1. Hollow Ram
2. Locking mechanism tied directly to a groove in the Ram.

I sent some Pictures off to some buddies, Maybe they know what application it was designed for.

I tell ya it's been tough,i can't really find anything on it,right now i would settle for a year. After work today i will probably play around with it,if it will lift the front of my f-250 without sqealin like a little sissy girl,i'll be happy. My 2 ton does not like the front end of my truck AT all.

Well after a complete break down today, still no info on size or ton capacity.I did hook air up to it before break down and my son had a good time going for rides. It's broke down and maybe tuesday i will pick up paint for it.Only issue i have on the resto so far is that the rear wheels are non removable from the brackets,i think the pin went in,then got pocket welded. Not sure just yet until i blast one tonight and see what i really have.
Jack will get repainted original color,or close as i can match, new sticker will get made and we should be looking pretty good in a week or two, time permitting of course.

break down pics,check um!

I thought the rubber pad was attached some how,but nope, just kind of pressed in.I will be replacing it with new rubber, once i source it,and i will probably change the way it's secured with that press fit

Just to add a little more info to this thread, the logo on the jack was scraped and i couldn't find a pic to see what it was.I thought it kind of looked like an anvil,i searches and found a ton of vulcan anvil pics, but no logo.I recently used BING instead of google, and brought up this page.Sure enough,it's an anvil and my girl will copy it in the red and white colors.

just wanted to add this because of the hard time i've had and hopefully it will help somone out down the road that does a resto on a VULCAN tools, info does not come easy on this stuff. Also so you guy's know,i did email a few links and they said they had never handled jacks and i had the wrong company, dunno, just thought i'de mention it.

A few getting into the tear down,You will also notice i had to cut the pins off with a hack saw to get the wheels off. They weld them in from both sides,so out came the hack saw.The wheels had to be resurfaced and cleaned in order to look, and work right.

Another problem was the hangers that held the rear wheels were bent. One wasn't to bad,one was really bad.I locked it up in the vice and talked nice to it with a 3 pound hammer,it broke the rosset weld on the back side bring it back to straight, nothin a lil burn time can't fix.

Wheels cleaned up nice along with the bushings and mounting pins.I won't be welding in new pins for the wheels, instead i will make new pins with a snap ring on each end so that things can be serviced.Stopped by my friends place and picked up the new stickers wich came out sweet. He made extra's so i donated one of each to an old scrap piece of plexi glass so you could see them.

The jack will also get base coat/ clear coat like my other projects,Still deciding on color, might stay really close to original,or maybe go another way with the paint i already have in house. The new stickers will get put in place and then covered with clear coat.

Progress pics to come this week.

Little progress today.I finally made it to the supply house for bearings for the JET mill motor. Then stopped by lowes and picked up a few hardware items. On this jack is a small amount of hose that runs from the handle to the back of the cylinder,it was in rough shape.I stopped in another favorite spot called the hydraulic suppy. There is an older fellow there by the name of ken who is awesome.Ken made me up the new hose, black rubber rated to 500psi and new fitting for the ends.I asked him about how he thought the cylinder would come apart, after looking at it,he said to pull the two large bolts and then put a little air to it and it should pop apart.Sure enough did.
I put some air to the rear fitting and the aluminum housing pushed foward, insides are clean and look good. The hard part is about over and now just down to paint and final touches.
