5 Foot Snap On tools box, with lock and keys filled with tools. Lots of SnapOn, Craftsman and Mac. Wrenches up to 2", ratchets, pry bars up to 5 feet long, air tools, grinder, hammers, cart, vice grips, screw drivers, too much to list. New job and I don't need any of it any more. Email, call or text with any questions. 708-473-2604

You think if he bought the box he'd know all the contents & model #... :eyecrazy:

I know lots of guys who don't have a clue what model their box is, hell a few of them probably wouldn't know what brand if it didn't say so on the front. Most of the same also don't have any clue what they paid for it... the tool man's dream customer.

Without a pic... could be a beat up old low-end box, filled with a smattering of truck brands and mostly cheap ****, too. It amazes me how many times I see a box packed with truck-brand-rebranded specialty-ish tools that probably cost triple their OEM equivalent, and then a bunch of HF or no-name hard line tools. Makes no sense to me. :dunno:

Seems legit, probably just a fed up or Ignorant seller, most likely both.

$5,500 and no picture, I can't get over how many people treat the internet like its the local newspaper. "Call me, I'll provide pictures...blah blah"

If it has no pics, most will just move on as you didn't put the time in as a seller.

I'd be careful not to publically call someone a thief unless you know this to be the truth.

It's something I just can't comprehend. I've been looking for a better box for a while, and I've got a budget withong about $200. I see so many that just say "oh hell, I dunno what it cost, but he said it was a real good deal, and I got a great trade in!"

The same usually who not only pay list for everything off the truck, they just grab it and it's theirs, they don't even know what it costs. Which explains the drawers of junk tools pretty well.

Probably an old pro. Made money with the stuff and isn't in love with it. Many long time professionals are like that when they get out. I know a weldor, when he retired, threw his leathers, boots and helmet in the trash. Left his grinders, hand tools and everything else behind for the next person and walked out the door. He had a very successful career.

Exactly. If I was old enough to drive, I'd take a mosey over there and see what was up.

it's just a bad ad. Nowhere does it say he doesn't know the contents, he just made a quick listing of a few of them and didn't go into detail, it's not a crime.

I don't know the model # of any of my boxes. You should really edit your first post and at least remove his phone #. :eyecrazy:

I didn't realize you were THAT young

THIS, to LOTS of people that work in the field, tools are just that, tools. They really don't care what it says as long as it gets the job done and gets them home.

Now with that said, yea it is a pretty bad ad, just like alot of the ads were the seller asks a good sum of cash without a picture or detailed contents. Doesn't necessarily mean it is stolen, then again doesn't mean it isn't. :dunno:

Doubt it is stolen. Police will check CL and so would the guy whom it was stolen from.

Probably legit ad, no idea of value because of no pics as others have said.

going back to the original title of the thread, I would bet money that it is NOT stolen. Certainly not gonna waste the guy's time playing detective, but I bet if you called him he could tell you in pretty good detail about the tools, where he worked etc. And back it up...

Sorry but I do not see one single suspicious thing in that ad...

he sent me pictures. seen some good stuff and some cheap stuff. but a lot of unorganized tools also. hard to tell exactly what was there. old snap on lower and even older upper, cart piled full of wrenches. without a detailed list hard to tell exactly whats there though and what the value is. not worth my drive to try and decipher it though. and i'm in the market for another box.

To the OP.. You called him and asked him what the model number is and he didn't know ? Here's a news flash. Not all of us belong to that elite club that posts on here with only model numbers of tools and boxes and expects everyone else to be just as ****. I have a large double stack Snap On box I bought new a few years ago for around 5k and if you want to know the model number I'd have to go out to the shop and look. I can tell you it's Purple & Black and I like it alot.... I like pictures. Mine is this one.. LoL

why? its in the CL ad

maybe the guy buys unclaimed storage and is just dumping it and can't be bothered with a list;)

Putting the phone number in this thread makes finding this thread and your post via the phone number a one step Google.

WIth taht said maybe this thread should be deleted. :dunno: So is the OP not an adult, said something about driving. If that is the case he will learn how to decipher CL better.

I see absolutely nothing about that ad that makes me think anything is stolen.

I would guess it's just some old guy who doesn't know how to sell anything.

I was amazed to learn that some guys are here are so elitist that they only care about the brand and model numbers. I had never heard of Snap-on snobs until I got here. I went out and checked all my tools to make sure I didnt have any Snap-on. I found one! Its a very old socket so I will keep it :)
