Re: What did you do in your garage today?

Windows 8 it is so simple it is difficult.

Moving on, I first went to the bank to get pre-approved for my first home purchase. When I got home I went to the garage and finally got my wife's Tiburon going today. After a 1.5 month fiasco of just needing to replace the clutch, it finally moves on its own again.

When I returned I cleaned up the garage, soaked the floor with mean green, and scrubbed the floor. I also made a topper for one tool box to mount the vice to, and made another topper for another tool box to mount the grinder to. Shifted some stuff around to clean up and organize. I just gotta finish cleaning up then my accord comes in for an oil pump gasket, removal of the elaborate stereo system, a cleaning, then it goes up for sale.

Made a trolley mount for my TV over the weekend. Still need to change out a couple of ******* to shorter ******* and add a shelf on the bottom for the cable box and power management. Hopefully will finish it up next weekend.

Just vacuumed the garage floor with my awesome Ridgid shop-vac. Wanted to get all the leaves picked up before the cold weather sets in this weekend.

I also removed some oil stains from the concrete floor with Krud Krutter and steel wool. I had no idea the steel wool would work so well as it was the first time I tried it.

Did some welding today, that was about it...just putting in some more practice hours...

I love welding, but only discovered that I did so in the past year. My day job is a park ranger but I'd rather be working construction or pipe welding. Right now I'm biding my time and saving up money to go to the Hobart school of welding. Went to my hometown tech college for about a semester, was frustrated with the lack of quality instruction, then when I moved at the end of the semester to another park I found a welder with about 50 years of experience looking for some help so I work for him during my spare time and he teaches me everything he knows. In between jobs I put in practice time and help him at his shop.

Changed oil in the wood splitter
#2...Pull the plug out and the oil drains out on the frame
#3...Get a piece of tin to direct it out to the pan.
Look under the "L" of LOG to see the end of the tin hanging down in the first pic

Changed a friend's tire on his R1200GSW, AGAIN. I changed it last Friday. On Saturday he put a huge hole in it.

That is a quarter in it.

They were in the middle of nowhere, so they plugged it and slimed it. No surprise they found out that slime is slippery and the plugs just popped out of the huge hole.

It did leave a hell of a mess though. We had to remove the TPS to clean it.

Jim

PS Those are animal diapers for horses. A friend gave them to me and they are great fot this kind of mess.

Re: What did you do in your garage today?

My neighbor has an ancient Ariens snow blower with a knock-off "Honda" engine on it that he bought for cheap. The belt guard had one of the bolts rattle loose after a couple years of use at the very end of the last season. I fixed it for him.

Honestly, based on the one bolt that was left, I don't see how it ever actually kept the belt from flopping off when disengaged so maybe it finally just developed enough slack to fall off. I picked up a couple of ~1/2" longer bolts, loose washers to use as a spacers, and a couple washers to push the bracket out far enough to do the job it was intended for. All is good and I dropped it back off to him.

Re: What did you do in your garage today?

I actually installed my new gas fired heater about a month ago but never posted any pics of it. I have been using it for the first time the last two days as our temps have dropped.

My old Reznor 75k btu NG heater worked well for the past 18 years I have had my shop as well as the fact that it was probably 10+ years old when I purchased it in 1995. Over the past several years I have had to nurse it along so this year I decided to upgrade it. I purchased a 75k btu Hot Dawg from Modine.

Yesterday I finished up putting my Transgo Jr shift kit in my 06 Duramax as well as flushed the brake fluid and rotated my tires. It is ready for a road test and to re-learn the transmission but it was raining yesterday afternoon and the truck is spotless. I will hopefully get a chance to drive it this evening for a while.

Re: What did you do in your garage today?

I finished up my conduit and pulled wire on one chase, now today I have to pull wire on the other, then get things hooked up. Momma was outside putting away the summer items and getting the snowblowers and such out of the shed, then hanging Christmas lights, so I didn't ask her for help. It sort of makes pulling wires a little tough with pulling, then keeping the strands from coiling up, then back to pulling. Hopefully I can get my mill and lathe hooked up today.

I also had to spend about an hour and a half with the computer working the damn bug out of it, which I think I finally resolved from the Error 651. As soon as I make sure it's fine, then I have to pull the files off of the old computer and transfer those over. I had them on jumpdrive all except a couple desktop folders which I have to have.

So hopefully today will be a better day than yesterday.

For the last 4 days, I've been going out to the side roll-up to start my generator about 3 times a day, wishing to hell the power would come back on. Finally, last night at 9:30, it did. Never want to go through this **** again.:scared:

Damn! We lose power here if the wind is over 20mph or we're "expecting" storms.

Gave the poor kitty a bath, with all the construction, drywall, paint etc I've been doing in the garage, it desperately needed it! Just in time too, it's supposed to snow tomorrow.

Much better now....

The boxes contain a Mini 998 engine in pieces that belongs to a friend of mine, he decided not to rebuild it and found a good used one instead - he's picking it up today.

Painted the brake fluid reservoir on my 66' Bronco.

Only the outside, right?

Jim

... and Dot 5 silicone brake fluid will also be a good idea if you're starting with a fresh / dry brake system. It won't harm your new paint job like Dot 3 and 4 will. Looks great BellyUp! :D

Re: What did you do in your garage today?

Looks good CudaChick.

Finished up getting my son's Camaro back together. It's really raining here so didn't go out to see how it runs.

Also measured and am figuring out my air distribution system for shop/garage. Will have a few drops and a 50' retractable hose overhead.

Since it was trash day, I sweeped up the garage and emptied the trash can so I can put the bag on the curb for trash pickup.
