I'm thinking about getting a mid height scissor lift since I'm old enough now to not appreciate jack stands and creapers any more. I did a ring and pinion in my Mustang last year and thought I'd die under there. Does any one have any experience with the Harbor Freight lift #91315 they are selling now for about $1400. Are there others I should look at? It would be used infrequently and nothing over 4000 lbs. Thanks.

Midrise scissor goes in the middle of the car, and lifts to typically OK to work under sitting on a rolling seat, but the middle of the car is blocked.
Do a search here on Midrise or scissor lift, and/or in the main garage portion of the forum for many long threads on the good and bad. Hot deals section has a group buy on a mobile two post, which would be a lot better for a Mustang.
HF would not be my vendor of choice for a generic Chinese scissor jack. Pick somebody in the business of selling shop gear like lifts.

Everything that looks sort of like the old Snapon scissor is made in the same factory in China, its called something 6000. All the different USA vendors do is select from a few options on the various parts like the hydraulic pump. The reason to avoid HF is that they are not in the business of selling this kind of stuff, so they combine no knowledge with limited volume.
Bendpak sells a ton of lifts, also sells a small scissor, but stands behind it and knows enough to order them with good options.

I looked at the KL years ago.....I'm glad I held off, because I bought my Autolifters for $600..... I think I'd still rather have a good used scissor lift and a good set of jack stands.....Most of the work I do can be done with that combo....

I bought a no-name mid rise scissor lift off CL just a few weeks ago for $600 after looking for almost 2 years, it was in excellent condition and lightly used and it works perfectly for what I do in my little shop. It gives fantastic access for front wheel drive vehicles under the engine, and I could probably change an exhaust also. For those of us with limited ceiling height, it's hugely better than working on jackstands and the floor.
As to buying HF over any other no-name Chinese lift, at least with HF you have a nationally sized company to get redress if something goes wrong or if you need parts of some sort. Chances are good they're all made in the same factory anyway.... fwiw, my lift looks exactly like the one in Subyroo's post

I do like the open design on Jagmandave's......Mine is basically like a giant table...But not a big deal since I have the other drive on lift, with full access to the bottom...
I know maybe half a dozen guys with the HF lift. All of them love it.

Count me in the guys that have a HF mid-rise scissor lift.
Mine looks just like jagmandave's, but in blue.
It works well for me. I had a problem with the brake cable that raises the safety, and called HF in the warranty period, and they sent me another. It took a few weeks, but no problems.
I'd buy another one.

I have had my kwik-lift for years and couldn't do without it. I guess it really depends on the type of cars a person is working on. I need to access the middle of my cars and trucks and rarely have a need to do brake or suspension work
When I do need to do brakes, the bridge with the kwik-lift works quite well.
