Here is my 1 car garage that is extremely small compared to my last place I lived the garage door is only 3 inches wider than my truck mirrors when they are folded in.

Finally after moving all of our stuff into our house which took about 35 trips with only my Regular cab short bed pickup and a 2 door honda  I finally had some time to try and organize it a little. After $300 of supplies and a whole weekend and a few days after work I came up with this

It's still not done as I have stuff all over the floor but I ran out of time due to a deployment so when I get back to the states I'm going to complete it. I've never had a garage that actually has some kind of organization and I must say it is 10,000x's better to do anything in! I still need to come up with a mount to put a bench grinder, hang my hose reel you cant see it but behind the bench that holds the tool boxes is a air compressor, engine hoist and engine stand, make a tool board to hang the simple hand tools and maybe air tools I've seen some good ideas from this website but Idk how I will like them being exposed to dust and over spray and such so I still need to figure that out, and lastly take advantage of the snap on foam kit I have and foam in my tool boxes! I also want to make a welding table top that I can place on my metal folding saw horse and be able to remove it store it somewhere. Haven't figured that out yet either doesn't need to be very big Just for smaller projects and stuff.

Click on my name and check out my 1 car garage album. I've built shelves where possible. I also built a roll-around shelf that holds air tools so they can be stored without losing space. It fits between the water heater and the bench. I also have a bench sander on a pedestal. I removed the shelves behind the MG to the left I plan to build shelving that is better suited to the space.

I would put whatever you can on wheels. You can store the air compressor under a workbench, enen put it outside and plumb the hose inside the shop. My dad did that for years because mom said it was to loud. He build a shed for it to keep it out of the rain. You might check out some of the loft shelving seen on the GJ. Also alot of racing guys have racks to hold wheels/tires above the garage door which is usually wasted space. Good luck.

Great job. We just bought a house with a huge garage, came from a house with a 1 car garage. I installed shelves and had it organized, we fit all my tools, camping gear, holiday stuff, wife's car, washing machine and dryer, and my HD Street Glide, with even a little bit of room to move around. Now we have a "two car tandem" garage that is basically 2 wide by 2 deep, and there is stuff everywhere. It is 10 times more messy than the 1 car garage was. Good luck overseas.
