I keep reading threads like this over and over. I'm now torn between the Atlas PV10-P, and the Bendpak XPR-10A or 10. Not sure if I want Asymmetric or not.

Based on all the research I've done, the PV10-P from Atlas is a solid, well built lift. It is lacking the ALI certification but it's hefty as hell. BendPak doesn't look all that different.

Similar warranty, very similar construction. Made in America means nothing to me considering I'm not American. . .

After I had my Bend Pak lift installed, I drove down to Greg Smith (NJ to DE) to buy some lift accessories (oil drain, trans jack, jack stands). They had the Atlas lifts assembled and on display. I'm glad I went with the Bend Pak.

I know some of the atlas lifts seem substandard. I've never seen them in person so I can't comment but spec wise, they are close. At least with the PV10P vs the XPR10A.

Then again, there is only a $300 difference in price here. . .bendpak might just win.

Just figured out the XPR10A is out for me. To narrow for the mirrors on my truck. The XPR10 is quite a bit wider. I'll be parking in between the posts so pulling the mirrors in everyday would ****.

Cannot go wrong with the Atlas PV-10. It is a massive structure, very well built, and you won't need "great customer service" because it a great tool.

I went with the HD 9 XW, 2 rolling jacks, 1 WSA-100 power air station and their new "GO JACKS" (wheel dollies)after about 3 years of comparison and several emails with Jeff from Bend Pak. Over those years Jeff the VP of Bend Pak never failed to provide me honest answers and more documentation than I could ever understand about his lift and lift design. After the on and off search for 3 years you would have thought that Jeff would have written me off as a PITA, but he never did and kept in touch with me while I debated what lift company I would chose. I also had the opportunity to work with another Bend Pak employee Joe. He is as dedicated as Jeff is , and was a pleasure talking to and working with on more than 1 occasion. Both guys have contacted me even after work hours and Jeff even contacted me on a holiday. So if you are looking for a high quality lift with excellent employees and great customer service BEND PAK IS IT!! By the way this reminds me I need to talk to Jeff and/or Joe again. : )

You guys are very poorly informed....both Challenger and Worth are Chi-com....

Worth Lifts are not even members of, nor tested by, ALI....

Not sure why you'd have several issues and few other have, but all it takes is a call or email to BendPak and you'll have it fixed. Then you'll still have one the very best lifts made - thicker steel, larger cables, steel sheaves, redundant locks, ALI certified.....etc.

Once you see them in person, a Direct Lift is not even a close comparison.

I'm considering a lift for my garage. I have several cars that this would support. 2008 F350 4x4, 1980 Corvette, an Acura TL, Honda Accord, 1967 Camaro, and a Ford Escape. I need a lift that would support any of them securely and safely. The available garage space is 35' x 40' and 14' ceilings. Please provide your recommendations and experience.
Thanks,Brad

I'm with the BendPak crowd.. Have three. No regrets.

Their HD-9XW (extra long (224" and tall - lifting 82") version seems to be the best fit for your cars/space/height.

brad777,

Did you already pick a lift? Hope I'm not too late to the party.

BendPak's are always a great choice. I just wanted to pitch in and say that Dannmar lifts are a good choice as well. ALI certified, CA-designed lifts that are well-built. You can get 4-post lift models at 12,000 pounds or 7,000 pounds. And also 2-post lift models from 6,000-10,000-pounds which should be more than enough to suffice for those cars. Plus they are generally a little bit less expensive than the BendPak counterparts.

You can pick them up over at GES - they have all the BendPak and Dannmar Car Lifts.:beer:

Hope that helps

I will toss this two bits in....No matter what lift you get HAVE IT INSTALLED. It took two guys better part of a day to install my lift. They had all the equipment to install the thing and after watching them install it I decided it was the best $400 I ever spent.

I have a rotary lift and have had it for about two years....never a lick of problem out of it.

HIRISC, I appreciate your reply. I appreciate all the replies to this thread. I guess I did leave plenty of questions that could affect my selection.

My truck is a F350 crew cab, long bed, and diesel. It is likely the heaviest vehicle that would ever go on the lift. I've heard it weighs (never had it on scales) somewhere between 8000-8500lbs. Am I good with a HD-9XW lift? After talking with a few shops, I think I'll be purchasing a bendpak. Just wondering about which one to get...the 9,000lb unit or 14,000lb unit? Obviously I'd be pushing the weight limit with the 9,000lb unit. Good or bad?

Ceiling height in my garage is 14'. Also thinking I'll get the higher lift version.

What do you think?

My 1963 20+ foot long Chrysler ambulance weighs in at 8500 pounds, and my HD9XW has no problems handling it. I have a rolling jack on the lift also, so I think that you will be fine with the 9000 pound unit. If you plan on upgrading your truck to something heavier, say a F550, then you will need the larger weight capacity lift.

I would get a 2 post vs 4 post for your truck. You are going to need a long 4 post due to the wheelbase of the truck. If you going to do any kind of repair work, the ramps get in the way. I used my friend's drive on ramp a few times and the ramps are a PIA at times. Always ducking to get a tool or something. But they make good tool/parts holders. I'm sold on my 2 post.

I think these pics answer all your questions....my ceiling height is 12'. I wish I had 14' ceiling but 12' is fine.

Lift is a BendPak XPR-10. Don't get a 9K for your truck, the arms will sag.

To lift the Ford trucks, I made my own adapters out 2.5" round stock. The Ford frames are tucked above the cab and curve up by the bed making them a PIA to lift. Plus my truck has traction bars and I don't want to take them off every time I lift the truck. Both truck pics have the longer adapters on (notice the arm to running board clearance on the Dually).

Thanks for your suggestion Bill. I would get a two post lift, but I'm also using it for storage. Unfortunately, I've found that 2000sf isn't a big enough garage.

After lots of waiting, lots of research, and saving a few bucks, I finally pulled the trigger on a new garage lift. Due to the size of my truck, I decided on a Bendpak HDS-14X. I won't have it for a couple weeks, but already feeling like a 7 year old at Christmas.

For anyone looking for a lift...customer service at Bendpak is incredible! I bugged Tony Garnica (my sales rep) with about every question and scenario possible and he never brushed me off. I sure hope he got a good commission on the sale...he deserves it.

I'll post some pictures when it gets installed.

Thanks to those who posted on this thread, gave your time, and advice. It was great to hear your experiences.

I looked at the Ebay Triumph ad. This picture off the Ebay ad shows the underside of the runway and cylinder. The cylinder is leaking oil! My OH My! You had better check the lift carefully after the assembly and install for safety's sake. They must not proof read there promo ads.

Looks like an installer error, cylinder doesn't look to be leaking but fitting/hose connection does or just some residual after install.
