Time for my own thread here, wife and I relocated to this last July and are closing tomorrow on our new house. Has a nice little 24x30 detached garage with 10' ceilings and 100 amp service.

Nice sized driveway for the day I get a tow rig....

And I will be moving the rally car and all my tools from the rented shop its in now over the next month. Trying to use the space in the best way possible.

The soon to be old shop

A couple shots of the car just for fun....

A little beating on it the day before I tore it apart

and of course the pics of paint from up above. Car should start for the first time this weekend and I'm hoping to drive it to its new home.

Hoping to use every ounce of available space in the garage by shamelessly stealing many of the ideas I've seen on here.

I will be staining some of the cement in the basement of the house... has anyone stained their garage floor rather than paining it with one of the available paints? Bad idea?

Thanks for reading
AJ

Congrats! Looks like a nice house with some character, and a lot of driveway space! Looks like you might be able to expand the garage in the future as well, depending on zoning/permits.

Thanks again everyone... ran into a small issue in the daily driver dept. I spent a few months this summer tracking down an e30 bmw. I found the perfect one, and it was flawless; not a ding or a scratch on the original paint and the interior was immaculate other than a crack in the dashboard.

It was all taken away on Wednesday by a young driver not paying attention

Bummed out to say the least.

Work starts on the new house in the AM. Also moving first tools to the shop! I'm really trying to focus on organization and not painting myself into a corner by trying to setup the shop as I bring things in.

looks good! make sure you definitely get your floor done before you get everything into place.. plenty of people will vouch for that on here.. can't wait to see the old quad circle finished.

its a 1988 audi 80 quattro. Transmission is an 016 from an early 4000 with shorter ratios and locking diffs, motor is a 10vt out of a 200 turbo quattro. Brakes are from a 5000.

Halfway through the new house celebratory bottle of rum.... So sorry for any mistakes here.

Doors are open. Modified costco utility trailer in the garage. Trailer is setup to haul 6 bikes (bicycles) however its been about 6 years since I've ridden with any seriousness and am currently down to one bike... maybe now that the down payment is taken car of and the rally car shouldn't require too much more I can get back into it.

Nick, Yes they are. Not that JVL is the source for everyone's parts, but working with him has worked out for me timewise. I requested the suspension the minute the cage was done, and he got it to me litterally the day I cranked over the motor the first time.... I took my time with the project.

Back to the house, sanded the flooors this week (lots of late nights to 2-3am) stained them the night before last, all the while moving our stuff across town into the garage and basement.

Sanding through the old linoleum glue was.... fun

There is a second color of stain going on to get the look the wife wants then finish later this week. I forgot to snag pics of the hallway and rooms but I'll make sure to next time. After the floors are done it's on to wallpaper removal :eyecrazy:

Living room, Dining room and hallway done. Now for the bedrooms. I've lost all the real estate in the garage during this renovation... So that is on hold till the upstairs is done.

And since the E30 got squished I've picked up a new deathtrap... er daily driver. 2.0 16v 4 wheel discs, and a fairly nice suspension setup. Gotta do something about the wheels and will be repainting it this summer (white again). Looking forward to bringing it back to snuff.

Sorry for the delayed response guys... work, holidays, house etc.

Rabbit plans are a re-spray of paint in april-may and minor interior fixes between now and then.

Rally car... where to start. Trying to make first rally of the season in may, ECU is currently back with marc swanson for some help. Suspension is sitting next to the car waiting for me to get back into a strut tower vs die grinder war. Really just want to take it out for a pleasure drive to get some motivation back in me.

House-Finally moving some things out of the garage into the house, painted most of the upstairs, started building a bed frame for the wife (right because I have that kind of free time sweetie, but it's what she wants) Here is a mock up picture of the bed, it should have been done by now but I got called away for work. Hoping to get home this evening and finish it up. Decided not to sand the door all the way down (too time consuming) so we came up with a simpler update for the doors.

Anyway pics

Lots of projects in the house done. Bathroom, bedrooms living room spare bedroom then kitchen next.

In better news, I finally pulled the rally car home! felt so good to turn a wrench in my own shop! Coolest part of owning a house by far.

Not much other progress pictures but
Fuel lines are done, finalizing the chassis wiring everything is finished but the blinker and hazard switches.

Next is finishing up the motor wiring now that the ecu is back, then suspension install, rear firewall, glass.... it goes on and on.

I dunno about under control.....

Been a while- Got distracted with keeping a roof over my families head. One tip to any future homeowners, shell out for a mold inspection prior to purchasing. Had to move the wife and kids out of state to be with family because it causes some nasty health issues. On the plus side they will be moving back in on Thursday!

To catch up, I cooked the motor at the last rally, I bought and then re sold the spare motor as I figured I wouldn't be getting around to the car anytime soon, but couldn't stay away from it anyway. I did remove the head and inspect the internals. The bottom end looked great, but the head was warped a bit. I had a local shop machine it who buggered it up and took .024 out of it. Then had another shop fix the buggered up job and they took another .010 out of it... Motor will be going e85 as soon as I get around to buying injectors

As shown above I built a fresh wire harness, am going to rebuild the dash out of Aluminum this time and put in a bunch of idiot lights for coolant, oil etc. Cant see the gauges when I'm racing and I'm having too much fun to be bothered to look at them anyway. A set of big red lights should do the trick. Had a buddy come over tonight and persuade me to take a break from the house to slap the motor back together. Need to install the harness, add fluids and put the front end back on, so he's threatening to bring beer over another night this week to finish it up. Might be driving again next weekend.

Terrible pics, just so its not entirely boring.

Anai Rally, Home Renovation, and Speed shop- Buddies Boxter came over to do motor mounts, brakes and wheel bearings on all 4 corners. I need a bigger shop- cant fit half my house, a race car and a friends toy into it so clearly it needs to be bigger!
