I feel like I have seen one of those before, fairly certain the drawers are metal wrapped. They have slots for dividers that are stamped metal. I want to day Dunlap, but don't quote me on that. IIRC it is not one of the premier makers but :headscrat

It's been listed forever and the seller has steadily dropped the price to it's current 20 bucks. I don't need another piece of junk around the house and wouldn't want to do a restoration unless it was profitable. Seller claims it's a 1940's Craftsman box. If it really is that old it seems like a great candidate to restore for only 20 bucks if you're into that kind of thing. Not my idea of fun so if someone wants it I can probably help you out with shipping. So is this worth anything?

Based on your criteria, I'd recommend you to pass. Personally, I'd pass as well.

If you look at the second to last pic I posted, you can see where the cover is frayed slightly on the cover and on the right front edge, and on the top front lip where the stuff is bubbling up slightly. I don't think metal would do that.

I understand what you are saying. I agree the actual frame/case is a wood with a vinyl or leather material type wrap. But I'm fairly certain the drawers are metal wrapped.

Hold on Nick, you are asking a lot there now. :lol_hitti

Yeah, I know, I have impossibly high standards for CL, I spend way too much time staging the pictures of the junk I sell and it probably doesn't get me an extra cent. But at least my ads look nice :D.

No way that box is 70 years old....I had the Craftsman vs and it was identical to that one....and I bought it in 90.

If you are talking about the op's post, look at the Craftsman logo: That oval logo was used from late 40's to early 60's

But the 520 box style has been in constant production for nearly 100 years...

OK I Emailed the seller and the answers are:

case is leather covered wood.

Drawers are metal. (They sure don't look metal in the pics at least for the sides, but that's what the man says...

The shell is wood covered by leather , the drawers are metal.

Just wouldn't believe me would you? :p I'm pretty sure it is a Dunlap, but not positive on that.
