What's nice about this set is it looks to have very little or none filler pieces like bits; is all 6 point, has 3 spark plug sockets, 3 universal joints, good extension combinations and has 2 hex and a torx rail. I think I would have strongly considered buying this over the Kobalt 224 piece for $90. It seems to be really balanced omitting the extra junk sets have that you don't use anyhow. what's the COO?

I dont know what sets I checked in the store, but when I looked at the Dewalt display at my local sears, all items I checked were China.

These sets look nice, try coupon code SAVE15 - I believe that as long as you spend $75.00 you will get $15.00 off your order.

I heard Dewalt will be making USA made hand tools, so I hope that means their mechanics tool sets will be made in the USA in the future.

FWIW for those interested. About halfway through you can get a look at the knurling on the sockets as well as some really fast shots of the inner wall finish. He will also hold a ratchet next to a CMan and a Stanly for size comparisons. He also shows a nice shot of the lettering which looks a lot better than the Kobalt I just got. He implies that it is stamped or engraved as opposed to frosted or whatever you call the "Easy Read" application. Lastly the open end of the wrenches have those "nubs" or steps/indentations on them like I think Gearwrench has.

I'm going to look into picking up that 3/8 set he showed in the video. It's all sockets!!! No fillers. That is the type of set I have been looking for to stick in each car.

Holy Cow that is a screaming deal. I've been using my Dewalt set for over a month and love them.

Husky got 235pcs for $80 right now.

The Husky set contains a lot of "filler," which I'm never fond of. And at least the l-keys in the DeWalt set are of a much more usable length than traditional sets. On top of that, the Husky set contains a lot of 12 point sockets, which I'm also not fond of.

For me, the DeWalt set "fit the bill" at the price and with what it contains.

if you are still on the fence, you are a bit late for the new price archirelic posted. in fact you may not find the item when you search directly in sears.com, BUT, you can still find it from google search or the link in the first msg in this thread by trogo , the sears site shows 124.99 but once added to cart it jumps to 149.99. what do you expect, it's sears. still a great price if you want the kit.

So true. I was waiting too long and missed out on the $125 price. Didn't really need it enough to go at $150. Looks to be a great set though.

I've been using my $99 set I got from Menards 7yrs ago. Wife bought me the 120xp ratchets for fathers day so set on ratchets.

They're assembling some Chinese power tools here in America. The parts are Chinese, it's just Americans putting them together. They're not actually going to be making them here, especially hand tools.

The local Sears has the 118 pc mechanic's set on sale for 74.99. If you add the 25 pc 1/2 drive set it only adds 5.00 to make it 79.98 before taxes and card/rewards discounts. That's not a bad deal. The ratchets seem a lot like the Craftsman lo profiles. Anyone know if they're coming out of the same factory?

Mine showed $149 in the cart with a $25 off discount = $124.99 total. I couldn't use any additional coupon codes or other discounts on the set though. This was purchased on Thursday and was the last set on the shelf for store pickup.

How did you get 25 off? Is there a coupon or something. It's still a great deal for 150.

Although they do look similar, I'm almost certain they are coming from different factories. Craftsman hand tools are made almost exclusively by Danaher, now part of Apex Tool Group. With Dewalt being owned by Stanley, one would assume their hand tools are made in a Stanley owned plant.

Why isn't the $25 off coupon working for the 204pc kit? Says coupon expires 12/31.

I'm pretty sure if you did a chat with customer service they would give it to you. (Or give you some BS excuse why they can't) I encountered a similar problem with them and they offered to refund the difference within 3-5 days. They've gotten pretty erratic with their discounts, coupons and points lately so I passed on that offer. I'm sure they would have refunded the amount but you shouldn't have to jump through a bunch of hoops to receive an advertised price. Good luck if you pursue it.

i ordered the 204 set on 12/22 for shipping, sears created a UPS shipping label. estimated to deliver on 12/24. guess what sears failed. but that's not news. The ups tracking always returned the same info, "ups shipping label has been created ...". So i am guessing sears fked up. funny thing is they can't even tell me what happened. they kept telling me to wait 8 biz days while they figure this out ... how hilarious. i am sure i am not the first one, and won't be the last one. i understand only 1 out of maybe 8 orders you'll run into some trouble like this but it's only then you see how a company support handles it and takes care of the customers. Sears is so big and they just can't figure it out. i can't wait for them to go out of business so they can stop ******* us off, who said this in this forum, so true.

I orderd the 25pc 1/2 inch drive set. I have to admit I did not plan on liking the dewalt stuff at all. I looked at them in the store and thought they were to heavy of a ratchet. I thought that might not be a bad thing in the 1/2 drive set and I needed some 1/2 sockets and my Stanley ratchet I got from my father inlaw is missing the ball that holds the socket on. Note: I am just starting to build my tools and live on a single income household (two little ones).

I have to admit tho this set is real nice. I can't believe I got it for $30. The pictures online don't do it any justice. I was also going to not use the case but now that I have seen how cool this system is I plan on leaving the sockets in it. If anyone wants I can try to figure out how to post pictures later.

i already have so many sockets and ratchets, there would be no good reason for me to buy this set. but then I remembered a friend who recently asked me to help him build his tool collection so he can repair his own car, he doesn't even have a ratchet. well, he bought this set tonight at 150 and I picked it up for him since I'm closer to the sears than he is and I'll just bring it to him at work. I asked if I could open it up to check it out. wow.. I'm really impressed. the 3/8 ratchet feels smoother than my snap-on dual 80 ratchets! it doesn't feel like only 72t... it feels like more than my 120xp ratchets... I wonder what kind of lube they are using? Stanley did really well on these Dewalt ratchets and socket set... this set is definitely in a higher class than craftsman, kobalt, hft pro, or pretty much the typical **** you can buy at the store (not considering truck brands and online options)... I think he's going to be a very happy new tool owner.
