How do I hook up air hose to air compressor?

The fitting on the compressor is 1/4" Industrial/Universal
What fitting do I need here on the other end of the hose?

Does this place sell em?
I am ordering from here tomorrow anyway.

You could take the quick connect off of the compressor and screw on the hose if you want to use it without buying anything.

Too many bad reviews on the HF stuff. Leaky couplers. I'd rather spend a little more.

Ok, so anyone know the right coupler for me?
I need threads on one end, and male 1/4" Univ/Indus on the other.

You don't really need a quick disconnect at your Compressor. It's just one more connection to leak. Just unscrew the quick connect at the compressor. With the hose end pointing away from you, wrap Teflon tape CCW. Screw the air hose in CW ( this helps the tape stay put on the threads instead of unwrapping as you screw it into the compressor)

Then, look up Milton connectors with 1/4 NPT fittings and buy a matched set. take note of the style of connector and buy more male fittings so you have them for future air tools.

Replace the quick connect at the end of the hose, use the new fittings in your impact and your done.

Amazon sells Milton. Milton also has excellent customer service for questions. I can't tell you what type "standard " fittings are. They are all a little different.

HF connectors work fine. It looks like a Husky hose. You can also get connectors at HD. Good luck

I thought you were the guy who was only going to use his compressor "a couple time a year" ? Leaks are inevitable. As long as the leaks are small, don't worry about them.


P.S. a drop or 2 of WD40 and mine don't leak.

I am stuck. I have something like this, that came with the Husky. This thing does not fit into the coupler on the compressor. Yea, I can just take it off, but this is really annoying to me. What the heck is supposed to go in there? They said 1/4" Industrial/Universal, which I think is what the Husky cam with, b/c it looks exactly like the photo below. Don't these things come with sizes printed on them??

Nevermind, I got it. I just had to JAM that male prong into the compressor as I held the sleeve back. The compressor was tipping over, so I didn't push hard enough. Once I pushed the compressor against the wall, I was able to MASH the thing in.

In short, don't be a sissy with the couplers.

theoldwizard1, I really thank you for all your help in picking out my CAT 6 gallon, getting air tools, and this coupler issue. You're a great asset to this community. My first impact wrench "bzzzzz" will be dedicated to you!

lIn reading this, I wondered if GoodEnough might also benefit by running a solid pipe instead of flexible hose from near his compressor to another location, i.e., if his compressor is located some distance away from the point of use. Someone might have a suggestion and experience as to the best way to do this safely. I have actually thought about this on occasion but have not pursued it since my compressor is relatively mobile.

Take the coupler off of the compressor and take it to any home improvement or tool store and find a male piece that fits what you have.

Glad you figured it out!!! Those couplers can be tricky( stiff). They will loosen up with use. The coupler at your air compressor is not needed, but is helpful for not having to store the hose with the compressor. I have a small plastic coiled air hose that I use inside for a brad nailer and small 2 gallon pancake compressor. It's light, doesn't mar woodwork or anything. I have a regular rubber hose for my bigger stationary compressor on a retractable hose reel.

Yupp sometimes you have to just jam it in there, sometimes you'll want to play with them before you stick them in... Sometimes you might want to use a little lubricant on your fitting, and on your tool...

I bought several sets of HF air fitting when I bought my new compressor,
they work just fine. Just make sure you use tefflon tape on all the
threaded connections. I've not had a single problem with the HF fittings.
I boxed up all my other size quick connects and put them away.
