A lot of the lots look familiar -- I've spent most of my life in industrial labs and have worked with similar gear. There's quite a bit of very useful stuff there, either to someone with a lab or a shop. I could definitely find a home for a number of pieces...

If I were closer, maybe...

You had me excited when I saw Malvern PA. Thought maybe there was gonna be some stuff from some crusty old drag racer...

I grew up near Malvern. It's a very affluent area off the "main line". I never knew of an auction house around there, but I rarely headed in that direction. More of a city bug growing up.

Some of the shelves went for pennies literally, but the Matco box went for too much $$$ IMO. Auctions can be as risky as the stock market.

Maybe a dumb question, but when it says bid ammount x #, how much does the item cost the bidder out of pocket?

For example the tool box says bid amount x3, last bid was at $250, then they show x3=$750. So how much did that setup cost? Why do they do it like that? :dunno:

It means there are three of that item that you are bidding on and each item costs x amount.
A lot of things are sold as a "lot". You have to realize that before bidding.

That makes little sense why they would do it that way to me. Unless they are just trying to be tricky. So basically the winner paid $750 for that entire setup, $250 each piece, top, middle and bottom? :shocking: Why not just list it "Tool box", show picture and what you bid is what the entire setup costs. :dunno:

I'm familiar with the lot idea, but don't fully understand why they have to put the price like that for something like that tool box. Now if they had 3 identical stacks (9 total boxes) I could see that, but for a 3 piece, all pieces different.

I am not following the logic on this one either:dunno:. I know most auctions I attend will offer multiple "similar" items as a choice auction. Basically, when you win the bid you take choice and can also buy as many as you would like since you were the winning bidder.

This auction has me at a loss!!?? No way in hell is the top and mid box worth the same as the lower box. Not to mention $750 is high for that at an auction, but like I said in the previous post, people with more money than sense probably overbid the box. I went to one last weekend and a starter S/O box went for $450 filled with decent Craftsman tools.

Glad to know I'm not the only one out in left field on this one. I wonder what the bidders thought when they were bidding.

I'm not real familiar with auctions. I fully understand where you said about multiple same items and you can purchase as many as you want. But to me in this case it reads as if there is 1 top, 1 middle and 1 bottom making 1 "stack", no duplicates. Compared to having 3 stacks or 9 boxes, which I could see at $250 per stack.

$250 for that setup, pretty good deal
$750 for that setup, WTF. :wtf:
