They have the new Hard Handles available now.

1/4" - THD72-12
3/8" -FHD80-12
1/2" -SHD80-12

Add a letter on the end if you want a color, the numbers above are for black.

Are those hard handle numbers direct replacements for ratchets that already had a hard handle?

In other words, those hard handle numbers are for ratchets that originally came with a hard handle, correct?

Yes sir, those are the direct replacements for the current line of Hard Handle ratchets. THD72,FHD80,SHD80 etc.

I m 3 weeks into an order for some 3/8" in blue. They had an entire box of 1/4" handles in the 3/8 spot and have to contact the vendor to get it sorted out. So I have a pile of 1/4" handles and naked 3/8 ratchets ugh..

OK cool. Just two more questions:

1. Will those handles work on older model hard handle ratchets like the F851 and F852 ?

2. Will those handles work in place of soft grip handles on current ratchet models like the FHF80 and FHLF80 ?

Thank you sir.

I'm not sure about the F851/F852 since I haven't worked with them but that leads into the next question. These are a direct swap for the soft grip handles, that's what I'm doing with mine.
I swapped my THRLF72 and I'm waiting on the 3/8 for my FHR80 and FHRLF80.

If FH936-12(Soft grip) is a replacement for the F851/2 then the FHD80-12 should fit right on.

I replaced my soft grip handles with screwdriver handles. The soft grip ratchets are a little longer and the regular hard handles don't fit. Here's some 1/2 and 3/8

I read when they use to swap the screwdriver handles, that the shaft would have to be cut down on the ratchet a little. Are the new style hard handles different in the way they go on the cushion grip ratchets without modification?

I had to drill the handles, I didn't cut the ratchets. I went with bigger handles, you can see the difference if you look at the 3/8 ratchets in my pic. The bigger handles are screwdriver handles

Can someone here provide visual evidence that the Soft-Grip ratchet shafts are longer than the Current Hard Handle ratchet equivalents that are shipping now?

I believe there to be some confusion between the older way of swapping vs. the new handles as of the last year or so.. My 1/4 swapped right over with zero drilling.

I am not sure about the 1/4 drive ratchets but I do know that the 3/8 are about a 5/16-3/8 shorter and the shank is shorter aswell compared to soft grip. But might be easier to use screwdriver handle vs ratchet handle thou

on my 1/4 in ratchets, I used 3/8 handles. They also work on Matco ratchets

Man, I would love to put some green hard handles on my 1/2 inch breaker bar and ratchet that currently have the comfort grip handles.

So the verdict is that the new ratchet shaft with the hard handle is slightly different than the new models with the cushion grip handle?

Yes they are slightly differently sized probably for more sales vs just selling optional handles that are interchangeable with eachother
