first scratch on a new ratchet

Damn.........I buy my stuff to use....not keep in a ****** jewerly box.

My tools have always had to earn their keep. But I do understand about scratching up a new one at the price the damn things sell for.

I agree. But after the first scratch who gives a rats patoot (these things are used to make $). My 80 series SO's sure don't have that high polished look anymore

Yeah, same here, no "feather duster" or polishing wax for the wrenches or tool boxes in my shop.
And the only lube the ratches may ever get is if they accidently fall into a bucket of oil or ****** fluid....

I really hate polisher threads, yea, I know don't post if you don't like the thread and all that. It is just that threads like this are such an embarrasment for guys that pay no attention to the shine.

If I had a brand new ratchet, and somebody near me asked to borrow it, I wouldn't think twice about sliding it across the floor to him.

Finally some that live in the real world

If it isn't dinged up it hasn't even begun to earn its keep.

My tools have never earned me a nickel, but I have saved lots of money over the years fixing my own stuff. I'm not a polisher by any stretch of the imagination, but I also won't beat up a new tool for the sake of it. I know a guy who is really concerned about theft, and says that "crows like shiny things", so the first thing he does with a new tool or even tool box, is grab a can of spray paint and deface it, so it doesn't look new and nice.

Once they're broken-in, they're broken-in. Then it just doesn't matter.

Well I do not buy a ratchet for $105.00 to skid across pavement or use as a hammer!! Do not get me wrong though I'm no tool polisher either, my tools get battle scars from use!! This is my F80 I bought when they first came out!!

We do wash the hearses daily and wax them monthly...they cost nearly $100K each, so we take good care of them. Tools are tools, I'm more irritated with myself than anything...how the hell did I drop it doing something as simple as license plates?

Easy to answer..... you are all thumbs... It's no wonder that you dropped that wrench...

Ever drop a good S/O wrench on the cement floor, that nice sound they make of a good quality forged tool? I like hearing that noise, never got that from my c-man stuff when I dropped it.

Junkman, funny you should mention that I'm all thumbs...having good tools, and a good selection of tools, helps overcome by basic lack of ability, and hopefully keeps me from getting hurt too badly when I try to do simple repairs on my cars.

DAMN!! i tried and tried to but it keep work strong and act like it is new... damn... i tired to be first tech to break it for my snap on guy so i can see how it will take him to rebuild because it is more parts and complication than 936 sires has...

Just remember where you work, and that they can take proper care of you if you mess up really bad. They can make you look perfect again, in just a few hours. Just remember to use jack stands, and not take chances. The life you save might just be your own. You only get 2 hands, and 2 eyes, and they have to last you a lifetime.. Tools are replaceable, but body parts aren't...

i used it every day even i tried to break loose on something that it need use 1/2 breaker bar to do... it stay strong and it still damn smooth ratchet!!!

that true!! i have very important body things that i need for make a living.. Hands and EYES... the hands are use to fix and sign languages... the eye are use for see what hell i do and watch the hands as sign languages to communcation each other...

I gring three lines into every tool I have. This way I know it's my tool and not somebody elses in the shop. It's quicker then writing my initials.

I don't care about scratches. Tools that aren't marked up aren't used.
