Not sure I got the best deal but I think it was ok 300$ I don't think I got a bad deal
tool box is full of t handle Allen wrenches and t handles. One crazy ratchet its the size of a 1/4" body but has a 3/8" head kinda cool.

Mostly all craftsman sockets and wrenches some ones I have never seen before they go as small as 3/32 if I remember correctly

some funky snap on pliers on the top right any clue what they are for? A nice extractor set the biggest one is like 1 1/4" at the start doubt Ill ever use that one. bluepoint lighted mirror and angle finder

Drawer full of misc taps and dies all look to be fairly new and a gauge I'm assuming is for depth measuring?

And the item that almost escaped my eye in the corner of the garage

Finally scored on some decent anvils. The two smaller ones are all steel and the largest is a Vulcan with a 1/4" steel plate in the top. Haven't weighed them yet, I'm tired. None are huge but all are in very nice condition.

EDIT: Just weighed the big one, it's 30 pounds.

I Picked up these three anvils, a 4" Wilton Shop King that needs a little help and three Stanley planes (WWII era) for $120.

.

Wanta sell that Shop King quick, before you waste a lot of time and effort on it? Just trying to help out..:rolleyes2

Got beaten-up Beach toolbox, this one is quite damaged: rust, loose lock rivets, bent lock, and bent piano hinge. It can not be opened and closed without pushing in hinge. Not sure if it worth fixing.

Haven't gotten to browse the posts for a while & still catching up. At a glance, everyone here gets a you ****. Especially to those who can find a lathe for $50 at a scrap yard.

Here's the most recent haul. For $10 I took home a pair of boxes. A beater Kennedy box that someone rattled red. Empty except the center drawer with a fist full of Craftsman sockets. The other might be an SK. Hard to tell. Both in rough shape. The SK was sitting out in the rain at the sale for about a week. Kind of a shame. There was one un-looted drawer that had the dividers with drills and a bunch of chisels. A couple of mystery tools. One section was full of pencil lead boxes and a gummed hole reinforcement box for paper holes. All wet from the weather.

This box still had a lot of salvageable papers from the machinist who worked for Lockheed. Department 68-24-Missile Defense Div. I wish I had gotten to it before it was picked over and left outdoors. Everything is dated between 1951 to 1958. There's even an engraved plaque on the lid with his name on it, Herman J Ackley.

A lot of the liner and paper stuff was turned into paste from the wet so I started scooping it out into the trash. I almost tossed out the squashed hole reinforcement box. One end had sloughed off revealing various old stamps! A lot of them are AM Post from Germany, so I think they are from the Reconstruction. I doubt they have any value, But it gave us something to sort through for the evening.

A missile defense machinist with a love for stamp collecting. Look twice before you throw stuff out.

What a great find!! A nice way to spend an evening going through old papers/bills etc found in old boxes.
AND, Good advice, don't throw things out right away, usually they have some value somewhere.

Sack that green box may be an SK, not sure what SK used for drawer pulls, does the front cover have anything on it?

I'm pretty sure those German stamps are pre WWII. AM... Air Mail? :dunno: but I don't think so. It's been too many decades since I was into my stamp collection and the memory of most is gone, even though I specialized in German stamps... Not even sure I have a stamp catalog around, mostly I borrowed from the library back then...

I'll give a YOU **** on the 2 boxes for $10, especially since it is the longer kennedy. Is it missing a drawer or am I just not seeing it correctly?

So here in Michigan the snow is about 4" deep and the cold has set in, but just when I thought the garage sales were over with I manage to find one that had a couple of tools at it. first up is a nice older sae set craftsman 3/8, ratchet, ext, sockets and case, all for $5.00... the 2nd, is an older snap on screwdriver that has interchangeable tips for $ .50

Thanks!
It's not missing the drawer, but both boxes are missing the front drawer covers. The knobs still have masking tape over them from the rattle job someone did. I've got the same box in nice. I've had it for over 20 yrs. I like em!
Outlaw, I think it is an S-K. I took the door cover off an older one that I picked up this summer. Aside from the locking pegs not lining up perfectly, it fits like a glove. Plus the inside is that crackle Sherman-Klove green.
And they might be war era stamps. I was thinking the AM Post stood for American Military Post during the occupation later on. There's a Canadian one stamped 1949 but the stamp itself was in production from 42-43 so I can't assume dates.

Post war Germany had killer inflation so stamps reflected that. The face values are too small to be post war/occupation stamps and many of those had overstamps, which was not a cancellation.

Well, I was wrong, Those ARE occupation stamps and the first issue from the American/British zone if the site I found is right. (the AM Post stamps with the "M" in the middle) so I guess before the inflation really kicked in...

Some of you asked for some more details on the little red toolbox but I could not find any manufacturer's marks on it. It seems to be decently constructed and weighs about 26 pounds. Here are some better pictures for those who are interested.

Eh, O well, for $5 for the larger kennedy, I think you can deal with a missing front cover.

Everyone please take note. THIS is how you properly take pictures of a tool box. Multiple sides, drawers open to see the slides, no details missing, good lighting.

I'm fairly certain it is an older Mac/Proto/Waterloo/Cornwell box. The reason there are so many slashes is because I'm pretty sure one company made it and just sold it under different names.

Ran across an old 1/2" Craftsman socket set today (had the old style ratchets), but none of the pieces are stamped USA. Not underline C either, but all of the pieces had part numbers that were C45 type numbers. Also had an stamped ring around them with diagonal lines. Any idea what era it may be from? I wasn't sure if it was worth picking up. The box it's all in isn't stamped at all. It was sort of a mini canitlever box where the top folded flat to the bottom with a little tray sticking up.

LOVE the Huot cabinet, Val. Nice!

As for the tool box...I don't know what it's like in Canada, but down here I have NO luck trying to sell older hand-carry tool boxes. I buy them quite often filled with tools. Then I empty them and take the to the next flea mkt with me, selling separately from the tools that I did not choose to keep myself. Last time I made a large display of old tool boxes for about $3 each. I ended up cutting the price on some, leaving half of them laying by the dumpster when I drove away. :dunno:

I don't have much problem selling boxes labeled Craftsman or Kennedy, if they're in good shape...and everyone WANTS the Snap On boxes when I have them...but won't pony up $25 to buy them.

Just my experience on used tool boxes. I wouldn't put much time/energy into that one, if I had it.

Done. Cost me $6.10, looks like they are 'C-series' craftsman tools according to http://home.comcast.net/~alloy-artifacts/craftsman-early-tools-p3.html Haven't had time to inventory the contents, but there is a 1/4 drive set in there as well. Box looks to have originally been maroon, not sure if it goes with the set or not. Also found a set of hard handle pliers and a thorsen USA flex head. The three c-clamps (all Columbian, 4" and 8") and Vacuum Grip pliers on the left cost me $12.

Rusty, how many drawer on that 26" K machinist chest? I have an 11 drawer 26 I bought new about 30 or so years ago.

Should be 8 drawers. I'm pretty sure it is a 526
Yours, 11 drawer, 26" wide, 8" deep, should be a 52611B, basically just taller.

Sack o' Hammers, that top chest looks a lot like my S-K 7-drawer. Same braces inside the lid, same single latch, same drawer pulls. On mine, the drawer pulls are centered in embossed (raised) diamonds that mimic the S-K logo of the day. Can't quite see whether they're there in your picture.
Mine was free, but yours is in better shape,
Good find

Dang, you found a spare cover? Do you have another spare? Mine is missing.
