So, it's do-able, just take your time, learn all you can, and gratefully accept when someone offers a helping hand.

Wow, you had some nice cars over the period. I love the 928's. I was in the market for a 96 -98 C4S 911. Couldn't find anything in my price range. Ended up getting a Cayman S. Sold it last year to get a more practical car. I will try to get a Cayman R sometime down the road..

I can't appreciate enough on all the advice that I am getting here. Compared to some of the other forums that I have been, this i a very friendly forum. I am enjoying this very much..

I've been using the SYWR. I atually 'mis-used' the coupons couple times :) I actually used the points to get the impact sockets today. Also if you buy online, Discover card has the 10% cash back..

Yes sir, SYWR - my bad on the mis-spelling.

You are absolutely correct on the Discover cash back as well!

Grey pneumatic is another good brand manufactured off shore. I'd go with the Milwaukee fuel mainly because the battery system will work with a wide range of tools you can use around the house. As a DIYer, I find I use the cordless stuff on the car occasionally for convenience, but mostly I prefer hand tools because I have a better "feel" for what I'm doing. When I need muscle, I'll turn to the air tools. The cordless stuff gets used around the house 90% of the time.

I started off like you 15 years ago, and have way more tools than a DIYer can reasonably justify, but no regrets. Having the right tool on hand when an unexpected repair calls for it is priceless. Of course I'm still finding jobs that require tools I don't have! And then there are all the vehicle specific tools the Germans love to come up with.

Enjoy the tools and the vehicles and stay out of the hot deals forum if you know what's good for you! :)

I just bought the 13pc HF 1/2 deep impact set for $24.
http://www.harborfreight.com/13-piece-12-drive-metric-deep-wall-impact-socket-set-67904.html

10mm, 13mm, 14mm, 15mm, 17mm, 18mm, 19mm, 21mm, 22mm, 24mm, 27mm, 30mm, 32mm

Great price for $25, but it has lots of missing sizes. Instead of returning for the $125 Sunex, I will just fill in the set with some loose ones for $3/ea. off Ebay. Zorotools seems very cheap. I will just buy 11, 12, 16, and 20 for now. $12 total. Good move? Also picked up some adapters and u-joints as well. Total another $25. Still less than $125.

Another thing I would add is to wait for the deal to come to you.

Sounds like you've got the basics - probably way more than you need...,

Now you can sit back and wait for the sales - the "Hot Deals" section here is deadly to your bank account, but I don't think I've paid more than half of retail (sometimes far less) for anything I've bought in the last year.

Wow. 50% is incredible. I have bought the craftsman stuff for around 50%, but other stuff I paid a lot more..

Sunex is decent for sockets. I been replacing my missing snap on sockets with sunex. Sunex has many types of universal sockets. As diy you don't need many types of sockets, all you need is adapters even some cheap pros techs don't have many sockets or torque wrenches.
