I recently just picked up my first Cman RHFT. I can't believe how nice it really is I thought it would be like your average round head but boy I was wrong. I find them fairly often but don't usually buy used craftsman unless its in extremely great condition or a complete set but I will have to pick them when I see them.

Just curious more then anything I picked up one or two of those ratchets over the years and they are just ok, OP what is it that you love about them?

With so many of the new designs out there to choose from I don't use the older Sears ratchets much anymore.

Nice collection:thumbup::beer:

I grew up using my dad's Proto 1/2 drive ratchet (I still have it). 24 T IIR. When I started buying my own tools (paper route $$ and the weekly sales at Sears...) I bought the 1/2" and 3/8 driven RHFT, and used the hell out of them for decades.

I still like them for the FT and QR features. The still get used depending on what I'm doing. One day I'll find one in 1/4" drive...

I have a second one I got a year or so ago, and rebuilt it and it lives in my Craftsman Metric road box, replacing the **** ratchet that came in the set with that stupid plastic direction switch... :wtf:

Re: Sears THFT

All the RHFT ratchets including the flex models use the same 41 tooth dual offset pawl mech. for the respective drive sizes. Since the pawls are offset, the ratchets have 82 clicks per rotation.

Is this true of all of the RHFT ratchets (not just craftsman), such as those sold under the Easco, K-D, Allen, Napa, etc brands?

Thx!

Other than the 1/2 and 3/8 are 45/90 T not 41/82, AFAIK yes. true statement. Esaco was the manufacturer, and the others are re-brands under their respective names, including Craftsman.

The 1/4" is "only" 42/84 T (If I counted right; yes, I finally found one! :rocker: )

Beautiful collection or RHFT ratchets. I have one of every kind and some doubles, but no pics at the moment. All time favorite, hands down. :bowdown:

I've got a 3/8 RH Craftsman that I bought in 1970. I think it's 60T. Does that sound right? I know it's got a LOT of miles on it but I've always kept it clean and lubed. Works like the day I bought it.

I have several of the regular RHFT 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2". My wife noticed me watching some of the flex heads on Ebay. For christmas she went to sears and bought a new ratchet that looked the same to her. I hated to tell her they were not the same. But i will be returning the china ratchet on my next trip to sears. I have my eyes on a neighbors Easco 3/8 RHFT flex head. Just got to get figure out how attached he is to it before making an offer.

Here's a couple pictures of mine, a 1/4" drive and 3/8" drive. I just picked them up a couple weeks ago. They're both well used but not abused. I'll be looking for a 1/2" drive to go with them. I can honestly say that I've been on the hunt for these lately based on the various threads I've read about them here on the GJ and on other forums. I do like them a lot, and I do think that they live up to their hype, but I've learned that they're not easy to disassemble and reassemble.
