Panel is a 200 amp service coming off of a 400 amp panel with 2-200 disconnects. Ive back fed a from this panel to a sub panel to power my barn, compressor, and a few plugs and lights in my compressor shack.:3gears:006.jpg

My air goes underground in 2 inch conduit from a 2 stage compressor and hooks to this regulator via 300psi 1/2 air hose.I'm hooking up rapid air system from here soon.

Ill take some pics tomorrow where i'm at now.:bounce:

UPDATE ALERT!! Well i am a little further along since i posted last on my build. I got the ceiling done with Sheetrock and decided to do my walls in shop grade 3/8 acx plywood. I just caulked the joints, spackled the screw holes, and did a heavy texture on everything. Painted both ceiling and walls with light gray.Turned out pretty good i think. For lighting i did 4- 32' runs of T-8s on 2 separate switches. I got most my air runs done except i ran short on 1 manifold for a dropdown so i caped it and have 1 ordered to complete that. Garage doors tomorrow then its on to build my workbenches and welding table..... STEVO STYLE... Here some pics of the progress.

This weekend i got my benches complete along with my welding table. Did same thing as Stevo but i only used 3 boxes. I utilized the space in the corner by moving the boxes out about 15 inches each way so i could fit a enclosed sub woofer and a shop vac. I built 2 more 4 ft sections and put expanded metal in them like the welding table so i have a total of 29 ft of bench. My welding table is on swivel casters adjusted to same height as the benches so i can make any configuration i need by just sliding the welding table along either side.:rocker: Heres a few pics.

Yesterday i installed my ventilation system. I used a 30"x30"x24" box can made of galvanized metal with a plywood bottom and mounted it to the gable wall. I ran 9" spiral with 3- 6" drop downs along the peak of the trusses. There is 2 doors on both sides of the box can to access the motor of blower fan. The motor sits in the base can and goes into a 18"x18" box that goes through the wall to outside with big mechanical louvers that flip up when it comes on. On the siding i mounted a stainless steel set of fixed louvers to complete the job.:rocker: This system ***** some serious air. I can adjust the air pull by adjusting the pully on the belt driven motor. Welding fumes,smoke,exc...GONE!! Im going to add a 4 " flex drop down soon that comes down and connects to a roll around welding hood on casters with a damper. Happy holidays everyone. Here is some pics

Hello everyone! During the Christmas Break i managed to do a few more things in the shop edging myself closer to a finished shop ready to finish my 70 Chevy project. I got my upper gladiator cabinets installed, put on my electrical plug and switch cover plates on and painted my black stripe from under cabinet uppers to bench top all the way around the shop. Let me know what you guys think. Maybe a red stripe in the center of the black? Here is a few pics.

Contractor is coming over today... pole barn quote was $16,500 for a 30x40 with concrete so we'll see what the master suite comes in at.

Liking the whole shop but really like the vaulted ceiling. What pitch are the trusses of the exterior roof and the interior ceiling. Just curious as to why you went with a vaulted ceiling in addition to 12 ft walls. Also liking the ventilation system. What size motor and fan is that.

The roof is a 5/12 and inside pitch is 2/12. I went vaulted because i wanted an open feel and figured if i vaulted the ceiling my exaust system being up in the vault would clear the welding fumes, exc out of the shop quicker. Also i have lifted trucks and didnt want clearance issues with my lift. The motor and fan came out of an old oil burning furnace. I think its a 1/2 horse 1750 rpm motor with a 5 ton fan. I know it ***** some serious air. Before i had my door knobs in my door id turn that fan on and i could feel the air being sucked in from outside through the hole...like the fan was stuck on the outside of the door blowing in..lol. Only thing that ***** if i got the garage door open and someone is smoking outside it will **** the cigarette smoke in:lol_hitti.

Thanks for the reply ripper. THAT "looks" like more than a 2/12, I was thinking probably 3/12. I guess the length of the building makes it appear as such. I am planning a 40 ft wide 4/12 roof/2/12 ceiling so am glad to see something close.
I also like the way you ran your garage door rails.
Where is your compressor and where is the air line coming in from. How did you like running the rapid air system. Is there no need to run that type of piping at a slope so that the condensate can drain?
I'm not able to tell, what kind of insulation did you run in the ceiling. And why did you use faced insulation in the gable area or am I missing something.
Sorry for so many questions, just that I'll be building soon and like what I see that you have done.

Your right it is a 3/12 i forgot i changed it from a 2/12 before i ordered trusses, just wasn't sure about clearance issues with a lifted truck. My compressor is 12 ft a way in a 8' x 10' building i built to house my 400 amp service, sub panel for my 120' x 60' barn, and my compressor so i don't ever have to hear it run:thumbup: I have 4 water traps at the bottom of all my runs, im sure the pressure will move the condensation to each drop down. I have yet to have any water at my drains though. In the ceiling i had unfaced R-21 installed with vapor barrier over it. In the pics you see all kinds of unfaced and faced, it's because i had a ton of misc. insulation left over from jobs over the years, i used it all up in gables and some of the walls. Questions are GREAT! Thats what garage journal is for...INFO:rocker:

Well its been along time since i posted. I was so slammed with construction for the last 8 months i havent had time to do anything in my shop besides buy a few tools and install a 80 btu big maxx heater. Heres a pic of the heater installed. It looks small but it will cook you right out of the shop. No need for more then 80k for sure. Maybe ill post some pics of my 70 chevy truck restoration so far later if you guys want to see it.....
