Small Swedish new build 2013/14

Hey all!

This building stands on pause here and now, because I'm waiting for the Swedish winter ...
But I thought i should post some pictures so far and then we continue in 2014.

I will also upload pictures of the toys when it takes place, I managed to buy so far and those that will come.

spec;
Continuation of the current house. L-support because it is a sloping site. Concrete slab and walls plastered with lightweight concrete blocks. Tile roof, etc.
Balcony in the gable on the garage overlooking the valley.

Interior dimensions;
Length 7 meters
Width 4 meters.

Colour scheme in the garage;
White, dark gray and red. I think ...

Will be back with more!

Lovely property and very nice toys there!

I was in Sweden a few years back and was surprised by the interest in classic American cars there. Also helped that I just happened to be in Stockholm when there was a big car show going on. Lots of people cruising.

Yes there is a big intrest in american cars, but they are expensive here...
There isnt alot of them in the end... If you compare to boring Volvos... :)

I belive that is because we have a stone/brick house.
In Sweden we build mostly with wood. You see a couple of neigbors houses in the pictures.

The building standard is two different things if you compare sweden and U.K.
Sewer, water, electricity, etc.

How do you see on the Swedish building standards internationally?


Here in Sweden alot of people do alot them selves, i build the whole thing my self. With a little help from my father and father in law.

Soil conditions here where I live is sand and soil.

Then I filled up three trucks with rubble.

It rains in the autumn and snow in the winter (alot) so i want good drainage.

You see the bigger digger who is in the picture above, we drove back and forth while we filled in order to get a larger print. While I walked around with something we in Sweden call a "toad".A compactor.

First thought was to remained it open this winter, the frost had created additional planting in the ground and cast the concrete slab in the spring. But now I wanted to get it done ... :)

Love all the builds from around the globe. I've never see the modular retaining wall - very clever. Did you tie it into the slab with rebar or does it just key into the slab? Looking forward to the rest of the build.

"Modular retaining wall", thats just regular L-supports (dont now the correct english word) and when we fill it up, the standard/work method will be the same as a slab on ground...

But these L-supports are custom, bigsized and strength.

You dont do this if you have sloping grounds?

Yes they are tied into the rebar/ reinforcment mat. L-shaped rebars are drilled into the L-support and attaches to the mat.

Thanks guys, Charger is exported to Germany and the Viper GTS has now moved in!
My dream car of the 90;s.

During easter holiday there is a big car show here in Sweden, right now I'm trying to make a deal with a company that they can display my Viper on there scissor lift at the show and i then can buy it as demo ex.. :)

Cool build and very cool cars. Definitely don't see much American iron on the road there.

I've been to Jonkoping/Huskvarna a number of times working with Husqvarna. I have to say I love it there! Been working with other customers, so I haven't been out in about 6 years now. Have tried to convince the wife we should take a vacation there. Beautiful country, and rental cars with real transmissions!

Have you been in other parts of Sweden?
Norway i s beatiful aswell, but expensive.

Worth an extra tour!

Just a few nights in Gothenburg (Goteborg) flying in and out, and an awesome tour of Stockholm from one of the rngineers at husqvarna that took the time to spend a day showing me around. The vasa museum was pretty amazing, along with 100 other places.

Ekman; i get back to you when its official. Until then its the best to not say anything.
They are really intrested in my car, swdish sold, 20 000 km, good condition overall and prepped for track days.

And i want a good deal on the scissor lift! :)

Adam, the you need to go up north, you have alot to discover, our country is very long and offers different climate zones!

The L-supports are not something that I've seen here (Australia) either - they look like they should work OK (tied in to the slab).

I think the rules vary here depending on local by-laws - but generally if the wall is less than 1 mitre (about 3 foot) you can do what ever you want, but any higher than that has to be engineered.



It looks like you have more room in your back yard (for a larger garage), do you have other plans for that area?



Cool Charger, you said that it's gone elsewhere - does that mean that you've sold it :( - or it's just being stored there :thumbup:



I'm eager now to see the rest of the build.

That vise can be even older than 60 years old. I have a tool catalogue dating 1945 with a vise looking exactly like that, though made by Söderfors bruk. (Also Sweden)
