Just curious if anyone on here has compared the AE Proline with the Autel DS708.

I think the AE models covered is less (no European) but they might work better on the vehicles they do cover. I can find very little info on what the DS708 actually does (for example, can it do buzz tests on injectors?).

I think updates are cheaper for the AE and I think support might be better through them.

Thanks

Autel DS708 is at the end of it's life. new and used market will be extremely cheap so makes sense to buy it. DS708 does cover lot of stuff for been aftermarket. both will not do the same things as OEM scanner so buying both may be good idea. I'm an EX DS708 owner. I have OEM scanners and Auto logic, I bought708 it for it's graphing feature but it was worthless so I sold it hopefully new autel scanner has better graphing than may go back to autel. Autel support ***** as expected from china company.

For Asian vehicles the autel is awesome I used a friends and it's ui was better and faster than my solus ultra. I have not used the auto ingenuity before but if you will be working on Ford's auto ingenuity has some protocols that only ford has but I have heard is slow to operate

One thing I came across while searching the other week is autoenginuity will not work with windows 8.1. Something about the USB and security chip in the AE cable not working with each other. On AE website they say it has to be fixed by windows or the company that makes their security chips. Didn't sound like they were even trying to fix this. May or may not affect you but I found it interesting.

This is apparently due to their use of a USB security dongle which they don't manufacture themselves, hence their inability to provide drivers for it. I'm quite sure they're interested in seeing this resolved properly, but they may not be able to do anything about this, though I'm quite sure they've engaged the proper resources to get this fixed ASAP, and that this is only a temporary solution. They WILL find a resolution for it.

Windows 8.1 broke a LOT of similar stuff from multiple companies. In some cases, a new driver will resolve the issue.

I don't have Windows 8.0/8.1, nor do I plan to get it anytime soon, but I understand that telling the application to operate in Windows 7 compatibility mode may resolve this in some instances. (note: This is general troubleshooting advice, not necessarily specific to AE. I've ran into similar issues in my line of work recently, and this resolved the issue.)

Kythri, I know AE has euro coverage but not in their "Proline" Bundle that sells for around $1200.

Euro stuff really isn't to much of an issue. I live in the sticks, Subaru's are considered exotic around here but there's still a lot of them because of the snow. I could always add the Euro bundle with AE if I started needing it.

The bundles are definitely where you save money, but you can always buy a single make of software - for example, the Subaru stuff is $150 instead of purchasing the entire Asian bundle.

I've got the Domestic "bundle" myself (bought the ScanTool first, then added the domestic package - they'll usually cut you a deal and charge you the difference for a bundle if you're up-to-date on your license stuffs).
