I was looking at these impact sets and the pictures show "Made in USA" on the sockets...........so I decided to open the chat window and ask.

Here is what I got..........

Thank you for contacting the Sears Blue Tool Crew! My name is Gilman and it's my pleasure to help you today.

Gilman: Good evening,Charlie. Its nice to have you on this chat!

Gilman: How may I assist you today?

Charlie: I was just looking at a set of impact sockets item 00915886000P. Are they made in the US or China?

Gilman: I will be glad to check the information for you on the manufacturing for impact sockets.

Charlie: thanks

Gilman: Charlie, are you referring to Craftsman 12 pc. Standard Easy to Read Impact Socket Set, 6 pt. Deep, 1/2 in. Drive priced on $44.99?

Charlie: yes

Gilman: That's a great choice.

Charlie: I ask because the pictures show Made In USA, but, I have noticed a lot of Craftsman products are now imported.

Gilman: Charlie, I have checked with my resources and I see that the Craftsman 12 pcis made in USA by Apex tool Group LLC.

Charlie: ok..........thanks very much

Gilman: Your welcome.

I have these - mine are double ended open end wrenches (10mm and 11mm on the same wrenchbody). The bolt you're turning has to be pretty secure or else the bolt will tighten and loosen as you use these wrenches. When they work, it's beautiful - but more often than not - the bolts loosen when I want to tighten and vice versa.

For $9, I didn't mind. If I had paid $30, they woulda gone back long ago.

I agree to a point. I wanted to check the origin of a tool so I hit the Chat button and I was like 4th in line. At the same time I decided to call Sears and ask as well. The Chat folks came back as I was still on hold on the phone. The Chat folks stated they were from the USA and the person on the phone told me they were from China! So 2 people from Sears telling me 2 different things.
When I went to Sears a week ago I did see these Impacts and they were not from USA. I will be going today to pick up the wrenches so I will check these specific ones.

I picked up both my wrench sets and they both are from China. Since I was there I did check the impact Sets and they too are from China.
They had a sale for a 23 Piece Impact set for $99(Original $119.99), minus a $21 gift card Sears gave me for being late on another product, Brought this to $78+Tax!

I know $10 is a good price, but I'm just wondering why you guys need these wrenches.
Most of us have some sort of basic toolkit that came with wrenches.
Then some of us buy ratcheting wrenches or flex head wrenches, etc.

Why would you need these?

I have been in quite a few binds where all I could fit was the open end side of a wrench. And then had to keep flipping the wrench over and over when with these I dont have to. Besides we live in Amurika!! Its only $10 and I can spend it on **** I dont need because I'm Amurikan!! :bounce:

I can think of one application off the top of my head: brake lines.

Yes I have line wrenches but those are a pain in the ****. Being these were 10 bucks a pop, I figured why not. Plus as someone else mentioned, when you are in a bind sometimes they are the only thing that fits.

Impacts are indeed made in China. Just verified in store tonight.

It's been that way for a couple of years. The real problem with them is that the coating ***** (I pick up the singles when they're on clearance). It's funny because the cheap evolv stuff they sell is friggin taiwan and they're good bare bones sockets. Charge more for china? Get outta here.:bounce:

Thanks for the heads up. Sadly I could only get the SAE because no stores local to me had the metric.
