I found this in a building behind my deceased Dad's house and have no idea what it is. It does say McCormick Deere on it and it was found in Lexington VA, about 1 hour south of McCormick Farm in VA. The drum looking thing is a stone, apparently a grinding stone.

Many many years ago my ancestors had a plantation in Charlottesville, VA. This could possibly have come from there.

I believe it is some type of sharpening device, probably for farm equipment.

Looks like a hand powered grinder. After your last post of the angle drill it wouldn't surprise me. Is that wheel on look like a grinding stone/wheel? I'd almost say it looks like it might sharpen drill bits also but that is a far out there guess.

Take your camera off Automatic, or edit the pix to lighten them up!

I agree it's a sharpener - looks like it's meant to clamp on the frame of a specific implement and sharpen edges in place. Harrow? Multi bottom plow? sickle bar mower? something like that. Just another guess, and probably every bit as good as the one I posted on your other hand-crank gizmo!

Wow, by golly you're right! A Google search of sickle mower sharpener shows photos of the same thing. There are a few for sale on eBay.

Thank you! I'll clean this one up too and get it cranking. It too will make some good wall art in my shop.
