This appears to be a later version of the Craftsman 5195 vise with a fixed base. The base is different from the earlier 5191 (which had 4 inch jaws instead of the 3-1/2" jaws listed in the CL ad) in that it seems to have 3 mounting holes instead of the earlier 4.

Anyone know when this was made?

The price doesn't seem that bad for the condition. Go for it, someone! :D

However, no photos, or links are not going to get the vise to a loving home...

That's not a horrible price, but that's not a 5195, either...

That's a 5182, which is about "half" the vise a 5195 is---weight is 51 lbs for the 5195 versus 32 pounds for the 5182...

If it was me, I'd offer him about three twenties, and see what happen...the vise appears to be in good shape, good jaws, etc...so $60.00 ought to get the job done...

By the way, a 5195, in that condition, would retail in the $150.00 range...the 5196, in the photo, sold for $ 265.00/including freight, about two months ago, on Ebay...I faded out at $150.00---I wish I'd bought it!!!

My Sister lives in Bend Oregon and I think her husband just bought the vise. I told her to get it for her husband and he just replied to me. I thought it was worth $85. It saves me from shipping a vise to Bend. Oldldh, that 5197 someday will end up on your doorstep. I just know it.

i seen the vise also i have two just like it only mine have swivels

Had a daydream the other day---:p

Walked into an old "neighborhood" hardware store, and asked if they had any vises...

The elderly gentleman running the store said, "Yes, I've got some in the back---I think..."

So, we walked into the back storeroom, and, after moving a bunch of stuff, there were four boxes...:eyecrazy::eyecrazy:

When I turned them over they read---Craftsman Machinist Vise---Type 5195, the next one said 5196, the one after that said 5197 and the last one said 5198...:D:D:D

"How much do you want for them???", said I...:evil:

"What's listed on the box???", said he...

"It totals about $167.40", said I...

"That's how much I want for them, plus tax, of course...", said he...:lol_hitti

"Sold!!!", said I...:drool::drool::drool:

And then I woke up---

That's truly, a "YOU REALLY, REALLY ****" fantasy!!!

Of well, it's my fantasy, I can make it as big as I want!!!:beer::beer:
