I'm looking to buy a used Panduit tie gun off of ebay, but I'm not sure what model would be best for me? My primary use is for securing/organizing wiring harnesses and plumbing in my offroad buggy, and also for running power lines when installing wheelchair lifts in the back of vehicles. The two models I'm looking at are the GTS and GS2B. I would assume most of these guns have been used in production and have a lot of miles on them; what do I need to look out for?

For all around use I'd get the GS2B. It's middle of the road in capacity.

If you're mainly using small tie wraps then get the GTS. It can reach into tighter spots.

You should also look at Thomas and Betts tie wrap tools. I think they're even better then Panduit. (I have all 3)

There are definitely some great deals on Ebay if you're patient. I'd look for one that's lightly used or maybe even new. Even new ones go for substantially less then regular prices.

These things are pretty well built. About the only thing that can go wrong is the blade and the spring which are replaceable but expensive.

I've had a panduit for about 10 years now, not sure what model but looks just like the GTS. I love it and it's been great. I got it used in a box of tools I bought and didn't even know what it was at the time.

I've had my GS2B since 1985. Work really well and I like the fact that the tension is adjustable.

What model Thomas and Betts do you recommend?

The Panduit or T&B with adjustable tension seem to work well and last a long time. I have bought them used and all kinds have worked. I guess the blade could dull, especially if someone tried to use them with stainless steel ties.

My T&B is a WT-199. The T&B is a tad smoother and a little better built then the Panduits. But the Panduits have more compact tips. (especially the GTS).

If I had to choose just one, it would probably be the GS2B.
