Yes I bought the 24" without planning to ever use it. I can think of a few places where I might but no real 'need'.

I bought the 24in wrench as well, I will most likely never use it, but every body needs a big *** wrench, never know when you might need it

Got the 24" Cresent and the Ratcheting XL Set... First impression of the 24", WOW, I will probably never use this but for $30, it will be a conversation piece in my shop, that is for sure. Need to open the wrenches yet... I guess I am overwhelmed by the 24 incher! HA! That's what she said.

Received my order today. I ordered the 24" Adjustable Wrench and the Ratcheting Screwdriver set. My order came in two separate boxes. The first large box was the Adjustable Wrench as expected. The second box was an 8 Pc set of Crescent 1/2" 12 Point Metric Sockets. Just sent them an email to see how this happened.

K-OS, the same thing happened to me today when I received my order. The adjustable wrench was perfect but when I opened the other box, there was a set of Crescent sockets. I called customer service and they are sending me a prepaid FedEx return label for the sockets and they will ship out the ratcheting screwdriver tomorrow.

I got an email response to go to the local Fastenal and work it through them. Didn't make much sense to me. We have Fastenal on-site at work everyday so I'll talk to one of the guys to see if that's the right way to go.

Update: received a call from customer service this morning. A FedEx label was sent out for the return of the socket set and the correct ratcheting screwdriver set was sent out this morning. Mistakes happen and I have to say that the customer service rep was very apologetic. I would have no problem ordering from from the GearWrench website again.

That makes no sense. Good luck at Fastenal, you'll probably need it.

I wonder if they were confused and thought you had a warranty complaint? Telling people to go to Fastenal is often what they do for warranty issues, not when they ship you the wrong item.

I was thinking the same thing. I ended up just calling the number and it should all be fixed. Going to send out the Screwdriver set and send me a return label the same as ericg.

In for a Big-*** wrench. Check out those lighted [illuminated] inspection mirrors, extend to 3'. My current one only goes to about two feet, many times not long enough. I normally avoid battery-operated stuff but fell for this one. Also got the triangle file.

24" wrenches arrived 4 days after ordering. No tracking- they just showed up. Seem very good for the price. Not sure why I need one but if you need a 24" adjustable wrench and you don't have one, $30 would seem like a good price.

Gearwrench made a mistake on my order too, when I bought the 24" adjustable. Nothing major, but enough to make me think they must have a bunch of noobs running that "hot deals" operation.

Its possible they weren't expecting the Great GJ-ARMY to come marching in!
And "shipping clerk Sally" is probably at the chiropractor, getting an adjustment after lifting so many giant wrenches!
As others have posted, they are fixing their mistakes.

Haven't logged onto GJ in over a month and within 5mins today I spent $70 on a 24in wrench, 1/4 gimbal ratchet (listed in new items), light up stick mirror and Torx drivers on the GW site. What else have I missed out on?

Really not sure if I should visit GJ more often or stay away?

Thanks guys!

I am loving the ratcheting screwdriver. I'm so glad that the free shipping above 40 forced me to purchase one along with the monster wrench that I probably wont ever use. The flexible extension is awesome!

Joined GJ about a year ago, at a point I had been happy with the tools, etc., I had. I was looking around in the web for info' on new tool chests, and found GJ. Since then, I've bought a Tool Vault 56" cabinet, an IR compressor, a shop vac, and numerous hand tools. Oh, plus a new 7" grinder and a rotary hammer. Then, I said, a few months ago, THAT IS IT, I had everything, plus. So I did pretty well til this GW thread, and I have on order several of the sale items as I type. Plus a couple Wiha calipers, also seen on GJ in Hot Deals I think it was. They are also enroute via the Brown Truck.

And THAT IS IT.

It's fun, though. And my wife says, don't stress, she doesn't care if I get tools. And, happily, I am actually using all those tools. And the new 56" box is almost full, and I blew off selling the 30" 3-stack 25-yr-old Waterloo, which was one excuse I gave myself when ordering the new one. Now the Waterloo is also almost full.

It's kind of ironic. Gearwrench reps who have posted in the tools section have often faced hostility from many members resulting in their quick departure. However, here we are buying those 24 inch adjustable wrenches because we can.:wtf:

Thanks for noticing our new "Hot Deals" section. As you have noticed, this is a new feature for us and we're still working out the kinks. We appreciate your understanding.

A couple things we learned:

1) Our outbound UPS tracking emails weren't sending properly. This should now be fixed

2) We've had a few picking errors. Reading about them here helped us learn quickly. Our customer service and operations teams are top notch and will have this sorted soon.

We'll be rotating the hot deals items monthly - so be sure to check back!

Thanks again,
Steve

Thank YOU Steve. So much easier to spend money in your direction if we know when the rotation is. May not think it's a big deal to all but at least to me, this is a way to set one store or brand apart from others.

I have been checking the Hot Deals section daily since I bought the Metric XL set. PLEASE post on here when new items go in the Hot Deals sale. I want a set of the XL SAE ratchet wrench's like the metric ones.

Well, since you're here: Any plans on offering the mid-length sockets in 1/2" drive? or a gimbal ratchet in 1/2" drive? I want to buy the 3/8" and 1/4" of both, but I get the feeling that as soon as I do, you'll come out with a 1/2" version and then sell a complete kit.

Steve, thanks for posting that info. I respect a company that's honest enough to admit a mistake and make an effort to correct it. It shows integrity. I think Gearwrench makes some excellent tools and I intend to buy more... especially if they are hot deals!

Hello -

I'm not aware of any plans to make 1/2" drive on either. I think you're safe getting the 1/4 and 3/8 :)

Anyone have any opinions on the tool cart compared to the HF ones?

From what I've been able to figure out, it's similar to slightly higher quality, for 2-3x the price and with less drawers. I'd go with the HF.

If you want the GW one, also consider there's a promo with one of their buying groups for the cart, two master socket sets and two ratcheting wrench sets which you may or may not find to be a nice value :)

I got the 24" adjustable, good deal for thirty bucks. I'll use it at work to bend and lever metal. I also got the screwdriver sets to give as a gift. I'll be keeping an eye on the GW hot deals.

Steve,

Thanks for coming on here. Im sure I speak for many on here when I tell you how big a part Gearwrench tools play in our toolboxes. Personally, over the last year, Gearwrench products have slowly started to replace and become my 'go to' in many areas of my toolbox.

Agreed  I have LOTS of GW stuff in my box. It's great quality for the money.

Nothing China though....I refuse to buy it.

Nothing China though....I refuse to buy it.

Just a very quick and incomplete mental inventory of stuff I've gotten in the last 6 months shows this:

-1/4 dr. metric mid length sockets
-3/8 dr. metric swivel sockets
-3/8 dr. metric mid length sockets
-1/2 dr. metric shallow sockets
-socket holders
- 6 piece screwdriver set
- ratcheting screwdriver set
- metric ratcheting reversible wrenches
- metric XL ratcheting wrenches
- metric stubby wratcheting wrenchs

Next up: a 120XP 3/8dr. flex head ratchet.

Although, most of this stuff is Taiwan made, I cant say Ive had any negative experiences with the Chinese made GW stuff.
