I finally finished cleaning up my tuned port unit for my project car. Years ago the car was at a body shop where they applied what they told me was some sort of spray mask product. I'm convinced it was spray glue. Dirt had stuck to it to the point that only fine steel wool and a ridiculous amount of elbow grease would take it off. It's about as clean as I can get it now.

Tried to start the Cub Cadet lawn tractor, no soap. Moved some ATVs around to make room for a UTV I am planning on buying. One of the ATVs is my brothers, the other is mine. It is a 2001 Polaris 500 and the resale is so low we are just going to keep it. The grand kids love it and it is off the tax roles.

Blasted the fender to cowl area on the 66 Mustang and got the fender to cowl extensions test fit. The cowl is in great shape except for some pinhole rust under where they were spot welded to the cowl. I will weld those and rust treat it then weld through prime it before welding in the extensions. Trying to figure out where to put all the parts I am keeping that came with a 65 shell I just bought.

Not what most of you want to see.

Thawing and drying all the exterior Christmas stuff for storage. I hate this part.

I made a new handle for my long handle Kobalt 1/4" ratchet. I like Kobalt wrenches and ratchets, but I hate the cheesy rubber handles. I fixed mine.

Craftsman #1 Philips handle. Fits nicely in a socket. Socket is bolted to the table.

Modified my cheesy oxy-acetylene cart. Added a tray and circular "bottle keepers". That rinky dink chain kept coming off and almost launched a bottle or two over the years.

Hey all,

Finished my welding / metal working bench today. It's made out of 2x3" 1/4" steel and I got my inspiration from some of the benches here (of course!).

Here's a couple of pics:

The workbench is high enough to slide my 52" husky workbench underneath. It's 30" deep so I have a fair bit of room to work with.

Each of the steel slats is supported by a piece of 1/4" angle iron so they won't sag. Some of the metal looks rusty, but it was only suface rust. I used a wire brush to get rid of it and then sprayed it back with rustoleum. The 'feet' were made out of hockey pucks and are adjustable with 5/8 bolts for leveling.

I'd like to thank the gent who created his workbench but used an individual adjusting bolt for each of the slats. I can't find the thread but I definitely used his bench as inspiration :)

Installed a new Craftsman garage door opener in one of my rental properties. I did it myself and had no issues with the install. I used my new Jaw Horse and a 2x4 to hold the open up to the ceiling while I connected the supporting metal brackets.

Got the bed on the F150 and fuel tanks hoses installed, had to do with the bed on because we didn't know which filler went on the front or back. Huge PIA should have left the bed unbolted, the rear hose was a bi^&h but finally got it. Lights checked and found out the left turn brake problem is before the junction so that should be fun to find. But the good part is after a day or two with ins. and tag it should be gone to the son in laws and out of the middle of my shop so I can move the Mustang to get some welding done.

Began tacking the Street Glide apart. Last year I pulled the IDS of and replaced it with a Softail pulley for better gearing. It's going up for sale this spring so I figured it should go back to stock and get a real good cleaning.

start of the day

goes (L to R) good wood table, upright plywoods with red box in middle
little'r flimsy table then good metal table

the part that i am going to change

another shot of the plywood uprights, been there long time

used the bobcat to move the red box over to the metal table

everything in the middle out and the two plywoods now cut to length forming
a new table top, so 2 pieces of 3/4 screwed together.
Also upright from now disassembled flimsy table used as upright on new medium slightly junky table.

built this guy, actually first sort of measuring it to make sure table would fit over top

so the sawhorses can fit underneath and in the back

after a few adjustments it fit, had to turn the left rear 2X4 upright

basically pretty happy w/it.
I can see i may add a piece of metal on the front edge for stability.
Lots of tools all stacked up on the counter space which is exactly what the uprights were preventing.
BUT i fix all that later.
I WANT that table area going right across as a trial for a couple years.

turns out my two wood blocks could sit one on either side leaving room
for a small roller cabinet to sit in the middle underneath.
The dolly for the sawhorses has the notching in case a little roller cabinet ends up there.

and the pieces that came out from holding the tool box in the middle and holding the plywood so it couldn't move.

near the end of the day
pics a little dark

All you GJ posters ( especially w/ pics ) keep up the good work!
Great inspiration :)

Bought and put together the 28" Gladiator upper cabinet. didnt hang it, cause I didnt have any lag bolts. Pickup today, then have to pick where I want to hang it.

Question to folks that have them, I noticed that the top of the cabinet doors dont sit flush with the frame, but the bottoms do. I made sure to square everything up. Anyone else have this problem?

Technically not IN my garage, as she doesn't quite fit in there with my toolboxes and cabinets... Had to replace a brake line that snapped while driving, which of course required the entire system to be bled. My favorite part was having to bust up the ice to get the jack stands to sit level, while my Grandfather's 80'x160' heated workshop is only three miles down the road... Damn near almost talked myself into a quick fix just to get her over there and then do it properly, but instead just told myself not to be such a ***** and to get to work!

Drunken Yak, what is that interesting trailer next to your garage?

It as an '00 Centurion Vans (van converter in Edwardsburg, MI that went belly up a few years ago) Luxe-Ryder Limited Edition trailer. It has a built in air-compressor for the auto leveling air-ride system, tie downs, electric tongue jack and a full fiberglass body. It's a great unit, but it was way overpriced and didn't sell well. Retail was about $12k, I think my father payed less then $5k, as his company was one of their suppliers for their conversion vans.

How do you get the screwdriver out of the handle without damaging the handle?

I wanted to hang my PC under my new desk to get it off the floor as it keeps getting choked up with dust, cheapest option was a PC hanger from IKEA at £15 BUT it's designed to fit IKEA desks and I wanted to either screw it to the underside of my built in desk or to the wall. Nipped out to the garage, got the angle grinder out and cut off the top bend, drilled two holes per bracket, countersunk them for neatness and voila, ready to screw to the wall. First time I got to use my newly mounted vise and bench drill too. Problem solved, PC off the deck and I also trimmed an IKEA underdesk cable tray to length and fitted that to neaten up all the cables.

Didn't do a damn thing last night. The wife called me at work yesterday afternoon crying saying that her dad had a heart attack and was being rushed to the hospital. We spent all night up there with her family. Not good news but hopefully the next 36-48 hours will provide more hope.
