Yep, it's a great little set for the money. It's from that time a couple of years ago when Napa switched their professional tool line from us made to being Gearwrench clones before they came out with their Carlyle brand.

60 tooth ratchet sockets nicely finished inside and out. Made in the PRC, pretty complete set. I bought one in 1/4 and 3/8 drives.

I really like my napa set, all the sizes right there. I keep the whole case in the box and when I start getting into that small stuff I just grab the whole set.

$12.00 shipping is probably a Priority Flat Rate Box. Shipping by weight would likely be higher. I just returned a vest to Filson and it weighed in to the tune of $18.00, Priority Mail. I didn't think too use the Flat Rate Box. $12.00 shipping for the 1/4" set is quite reasonable.

Too much for a chinese set. You sure it's not taiwanese? That's about in line with taiwan set prices. They wouldn't sell a chinese set this size for assumed original price of 50 or so (maybe more) dollars but taiwan they might. Up until a couple of years ago the quality on the chinese sets wasn't so hot but the taiwanese stuff has been good for a while (maybe 15+ years).

My favorite "cheap" set remains the Stanley sets. 60-pc 1/4 and 3/8" set is $27. The 123-pc set is $42.

Not sure what the COO is, but even after buying "nice" tools, when I'm heading to an unknown job, I still grab the Stanley set when I want to have a set that I know is complete, and is still dependable.

I almost bought that NAPA set a couple nights ago...but being China and $12 shipping killed it for me.

Quality varies significantly on that stuff. What I assume are "rebrands" from taiwan are actually quite good; I mean the "black nickel" sets that I think they were selling in their own line as well as provided to home depot for husky. I think these are rebrands because I have the same sockets from wilmar (performance pro) which doesn't have anything to do with stanley as far as I know. They're good cheap sockets in my opinion.

Sorry, it says made in China on the box. The tools have no COO on them. As I recall, when i ran the number through napa at the time, it came up at $80. The number doesn't come up on napa now. Napa tools have always been priced high though.

I'm not a fan of PRC made tools but, this and the 3/8 set cripe sold are decent made sets for the money even with shipping. I mean the closest option would be the gearwrench sets and they don't sell for $38. I can't think of another set as complete that you can get for under $40 with shipping.

Seems to me if you are shopping at Filson $6 isn't a huge deal :dunno:

Then again I wish I could afford to shop there.

No business pays full price for postage/shipping.

I think the last company I was at, we paid less than 1/4 of what "retail" was.

I also have this set and checked the NAPA catalog for the price. I remember it being crazy money (for China) possibly $100+ at the time. I do not know what the price is at the discount parts stores for a comparable set, so I can't compare, but I do know this is a nice set with NAPA name and warranty. For $26 if you are ordering anyway or $38 if not, I would not hesitate to buy this set again.

Having said this, my set is still new in the box, so I can't speak about durability or the fit on fasteners.

Again it appears to be a nice set with a good name for the $.

I just couldn't justify that cost even if the warranty is better. They sell the duralast mid sets for around 30 bucks (usually) but I think they changed those to china vs. taiwan. There are also a bunch of retail sets with in store warranty that you can find for pretty cheap but probably won't be piece to piece the same. If napa was across the street? Yeah sure.:bounce:
