Barn insulation that meets Wife's critera???

I have a 35x35 metal pole barn with steel roof, inside roof covered with sheathing. The soffits are vented. The framing is 2 large double fink trusses without any ceiling hung from the bottom chord. The Wife loves the character look of the open framing and roof joists. I'm in Indiana and I'm lobbying to insulate & heat the barn to extend it's useful seasons.

Standard approach would be hang a ceiling from the bottom chord but the Wife doesn't like the idea of covering the open ceiling look.
Another option would be to spray foam everywhere, but then the soffits are still vented. She doesn't much like the foam look either. Attaching pic of inside.
Looking for ideas to make everyone happy!

Is that an XKE under the car cover? Hmmm, or could it be a C2? The hood seems too long for that.

You can spray foam the walls and ceiling with high density foam, which is at least R6 per inch, usually closer to R7. But only spray to the edge of the cross bracing on the walls and ceiling.

This allows you to sheath the walls and ceiling with whatever material makes the Mrs. happy, like T&G pine boards, stained 4X8 plywood, exterior plywood sheathing in various patterns, anything that will keep a woodsy look.

Spray foam the whole thing and then finish with knotty pine or rough sawn cedar.

This was actually kinda my thought. Who freaking cares what it looks like. Tell her to go freeze her *** off in January because "it looks pretty".

This is what I'm gonna do with mine, then possibly either drywall or OSB maybe between the joists so it keeps that old look.

Best answer is spray foam on the underside of the roof deck.

Batt insulation in the same location could be done i an airspace is kept above it.

Why do you say that? My truss spacing is 12 feet and I have joists hung from the bottom chord. The trusses were designed for the dead load. Is that what you mean by "lay-in"?

It really depends on the truss design. If yours was designed to support joists spanning 12', it's not the typical pole barn animal.

My choice in this situation (For the least money) would be the lightest metal ceiling that would span without additional framing. It would have ridges and run perpendicular to the trusses to do this. And then insulation up at the top chords of the trusses.
